Why are American cars so popular with the Mafia /o/?
>>15200538
It's an Italian-American thing. I can tell you from experience that if you grow up in an Italian-American family, you're raised to worship Cadillac and Lincoln. It's ingrained in Italian-American culture. Owning a Cadillac or a Lincoln means you've made it and you're successful. You have to remember this was ingrained in the culture back when Cadillacs were so expensive that the only time most people even rode in one was in the back of a Cadillac hearse.
Even through the 1980's, there were Cadillacs more expensive than Rolls Royces and Bentleys. Actually, I believe that was true through the 1990's as well.
Besides. Don't you wanna be a superior lifeform?

Holy shit an actual reason that makes sense.
Expected thread to 404 with no answer or fill up with memes, thanks.

What are these Cadillacs that are more expensive than literal hand-made British cars? I'm not being a dick, I'm actually curious.

It was well known the Cadillac Eldorado was more expensive than a Rolls Royce right up through the 1980s. Unsure about the 1990's. There was also the Cadillac Allante and Seville.

Really? The damn FWD Eldorado? Christ.
Are we talking used prices? And is this taking into consideration the overmanufacturing of certain RR models in the 80s?

>Are we talking used prices?
This was back when they were brand new. used, you could probably pick up a Caddy for a few grand cheaper than the british fuckers, but the Caddy's are also cheaper to own/maintain.

I'm looking up the Allante and it costs 25% less than my Jag (RIP) did in 1994. I find it hard to believe that a Rolls or a Bentley would be even cheaper. Sounds like a boomer rumor.

The Allante was horrendously overpriced to start with because of how expensive they were to build. The bodies were built in Italy by Pininfarina and then shipped to America on custom-made Boeing jets (I think 747's) to have the drivetrains installed by Cadillac.
And the Allante was dead in 1994. 1993 was the last year for it.

I know, I was just comparing the years because they were close enough. Still pretty damn sure both the Corniche and the Silver Spirit cost 6 figures through the late 80s and 90s

But not that eldorado. The Eldorado Brougham from 1957-60
They lack taste

MSRP on a 1995 Corniche is $284,000 - $315,000
The el cheapo Silver Spur started at $169,900, also in 1995. Damn, I wanted to believe.
