The ram had a better interior than most of the trucks of that era. the transmission found in the v8/v10 and diesel trucks is a 46/47re, basically a 727, one of the strongest transmissions ever made.


You will want a v8, preferably the 5.9 but the 5.2 will work. It is old school with FI, so you will have a dizzy, cap, plugs etc etc. I never really had any major problems with mine.

they were ((ok)) for the v10s, the diesels made too much torque and ate through the 46/47rh-re's

Go manual, and get a 5.9 or 8.0 gasser and you'll do just fine.
Plan on replacing the front u joints since no one does it until they fail

Look, as a big Mopar guy, I can't advise against the 90s Rams hard enough. They aren't taken care of and are universally falling apart.

Get an 80s D-150. It's the same truck underneath with a way more sturdy body. Interiors are shit, but they work like a motherfucker. A good 360 will cost you less than a grand in most areas and the 4x4s are burly SOBs.

I'm looking at v-8's because I will be towing but I imagine the mpg on the 5.9 360 is abysmal
