I'm looking for a midsized truck to replace my (now ded) Ranger. The Ranger was horrible for what I do, so I need a truck that can do the following.
>be comfy on long trips
>be able to haul about 5k pounds
>comfortable room for 3 people
>fully-adjustable drivers seat
>good on gas
I'm looking at a GMC Canyon mainly, but also have the Chevorlet Colorado and Toyota Tacoma behind it. I already checked out the Tacoma, and with a harsh ride and non-adjustable seats make it the last I'm considering. I'm going to GMC tomorrow to test drive the Canyon.
I know there arent many options, but I also saw the new Ridgeline is coming out later this year. Unfortunately I don't think I can wait another 4-6 months to replace my truck. I also don't know anything about the Nissan Frontier, but I may take a look at that as well.
As far as I know the canyon and Colorado are the same truck. The Tacoma is really the only other option out there. Maybe something by Nissan?

The Canyon is slightly more expensive and more refined. Much like the difference between a GMC Sierra and Chevy Silverado.
Other than those two, there's the Tacoma, and the Nissan Frontier. Honda is coming out with a new Ridgeline late this year, and Ford is releasing the Ranger for the US market in 2018/2019.
Pretty much everything is better than the Frontier, including the Ridgeline.
>not spending a few grand more and getting a 1/2 ton

Full sized pickups are a lot more expensive to get the trims/amenities I want. Not to mention costs for gas, and just general size of them.

Can't go wrong with Toyota honestly, though I'd look at something straight forward like a 1500; the gas and insurance is a cunt though.

Side note, my '10 Z71 is rated for 20MPG HW but I get like 27 driving pretty hard. I don't know why or how.

>spending more money unnecessarily

What constitutes a "few more grand" to you?

My problem I had with the Toyota was the seats and the ride. I understand that it's supposed to be a work truck, but I'm using mine as both a work truck and daily driver. Having non-adjustable seats and a pretty shitty ride was off-putting.

What trim did you test drive the Tacoma with? Just curious if it was their standard suspension or TRD Off-Road

Totaled. I was at a stoplight, some bitch in an Audi Q5 was on her phone and slammed into my rear. Ended up shooting me into the middle of an intersection and got T-boned on the passenger's side by an old Sentra.
