Any vaguely enthusiast car will turn ethusuast heads
A clean ek civic hatch will turn heads, because most people will have sedans or coupes or be used to the modern shortie civics

A prelude turns heads.

Any car that looks even slightly different from modern drudgery or 90s corolla turns heads

Nothing is a head turner car for under 10k, unless you put a whole lot of time into restoring something cool you bought for cheap.

you might get some people to laugh at you for trying to hard or look like a retard trying to pass some shitbox off as a headturner though.

Kids think "IT'S A PORSCHE" and will drop their Beyblades or whatever the fuck they play with now days and try to get you to rev the engine
When you pull up next to a middle aged guy in a Cayenne and they see someone in his 20s driving it they thin "where did I go so wrong?"
I've even met people who thought it was turbocharged and AWD or some shit

People are surprisingly clueless about this car, like it's cheaper and slower than their Camrys but they still think it's hot shit
Still damn fun though

My dad has a 986. That car is just magical. The steering feel, shifter, intake note right behind your left ear, low center of gravity, brakes, fat tires. Not front engine, but doesn't do scary stuff from the nose being so light. I've never driven another Porsche to ruin this one for me, so I still think it's fucking awesome.

Though it's already very enjoyable to drive, another 50 HP and closer gears/6 speed would make it even better. It's also a shame you could never get these with a LSD, since they didn't want it stepping on the toes of the 911.
>>
Something oversized and ludicrously loud.

If everything else is oversized get something undersized, whilst being as loud.
>>
>>15169976
That's some nerdy shit, most people on the street aren't going to know what most of those are.

A VW/euro car show is probably the closest you'll get to normies having boners over some of those, like the Saab's, E28, SVX, front engine Porsches.
>>
>>15171988
Oh, and those Volvos too, duh.
>>
>>15161597
I own a black MR2. Does not turn heads AT ALL. Probably because of where I live though. Fucking everyone here has brand new shit. Driving an old Japanese car makes me look poor(er than I am).

If you want to turn heads with whatever you're driving either get a true exotic or live where rich people don't.

Also protip: cars that turn heads turn dude's heads. Chicks rarely care no matter what you're driving.

>>15166807
People are always clueless. Drive anything "exotic" or "luxury" and people will act like you're rich (in a bad way). Doesn't matter that it's ten or twenty years old and you paid way less for it than they did their minivan or pickup truck. Anything with a Porsche badge and you're bad rich guy to the average idiot who's financed a $40k minivan.
>>
>>15171955
It's not going to stop me from turning my lowly 2.5l 986 into the car it deserves to be, eventually I plan on replacing the engine with the 3.4l from the Carrera and the tranny with the 6 speed from the Boxster S retrofitted with an LSD
>>
>>15171664

Literally just bought the car saturday, how she is is how I bought her. Still looking at wheels to get. Was thinking OEM but I'm not sure I can handle the dorito wheels. Plus I'm looking to get super light rims as the 4A-GE isn't the torqueiest thing in the world. And no, I'm not gonna rice the fucker out. Gonna go for as stock as possible. AW11s are an endangered species around here.
>>
>>15172131
Nice man. My dad's got the 2.7, but I'm sure it's not much different. It would be sick with a set up like you have in mind. I've also seen turbo set ups for these motors, maybe that would be a cheaper/easier route.
>>
American muscle in general

Also enjoy your speeding tickets that you wouldn't have gotten driving identically in a camry
>>
>>15172538
I looked into it and it turns out the M96 engine sucks ass at taking boost, turbo kits are expensive, you don't get much more power out of them, and they aren't very reliable
The Carrera engine on the other hand doesn't cost much more than a Turbo kit, is almost a direct bolt in using the same harness and simply flashing the ECU, and nets you more power reliably
I bet a 3.2l from a Boxster S would be an even easier way to get more power

I have seen turbocharged 986 race cars though, but it looks like they were using Subaru engines

Only for garage queens with less than 40k miles. It's been so long that any problems cars have either encountered the problem or had it fixed before it blew up
Now days it shouldn't be a huge factor, just drove the damn car like it's meant to be driven, that'll keep the bearing lubricated
>>
>>15172784

...so what if the car's been driven like it was suppose to for 80k miles and then it sat on a dealer lot for 2-3 months?

or what if the owner stopped driving it years ago after putting 80k on it and suddenly decided to sell it?

could the problem potentially crop up again?

Xb wheels on mine. The doritos look awesome when it's a photo of a clean car...not when you gotta look at em everyday.

I had a Fb I drove for awhile I picked up for 2300. Turned heads all day cause straight body and I took the time to buff and polish the paint and keep it clean. Any older car that isn't common and is clean will turn heads. My aw11 gets thumbs up all the time...1500 bucks. My 79 wagoner gets all the love when I can stomach the 8 mpgs it was 1600 bucks. Any super clean 80s truck lowered a tasteful amount will get looks. Tru car guys like me appreciate just about anything someone takes pride in ownership of that's not seen often or at least not seen clean often. He'll I mostly drive my first gen insight de badged and people always ask about it.

If you honestly think you need 120k to turn heads you're a shallow fool. But hey drive yer dime a dozen nobody notices 25k newer car. Any of my 6 cars will get more looks than whatever you drive unless you actually own an exotic.

My IS seems to get a lot of head turns, although you'll be hard pressed to find one in decent shape.

(Yes those are the wheels that I bought it with)

What about for 80k? Could I get a really good deal if I look for an older model?

My dream car has been a E34 M3, but I just don't want it to break down on me every other week.

You could probably get a Ferrari 360 for $80k

Aren't they going to end up costing a lot more with maintaince and such though? I mean when I say a car I can afford I'm talking about maintenance as well.

I know I am not alone when I say I think most of the people I see driving that generation of mustangs are douchebags. Not saying it's true; but it's a meme, you know? That said, I don't know if that's the kind of head-turning OP is looking for.

Get a 997 911, they make great daily drivers and cheap to maintain if you don't take it to the dealership all the time

No. The centre piece on that 'devil mr2' TRD spoiler was snapped by accident. A friend of the owners lent on, it cracked so the owner removed it. Ended up preferring the look since it gave the car devil horns when viewed from the front, hence the nickname.

Can confirm a clean fairly stock MR2 mk2 turns lots of heads. Especially if it's de-badged on some nice rims. The average human assumes it's some sort of super car. Mine gets plenty of looks even when parked next to porches and new BMW's / Audi's etc.
