Just finished the episode. Here's my two cents.

I am quite amazed actually. It was just so bad. I figured that since they would most likely be able to keep most of the production staff onboard that not everything would drop in quality, but almost everything did.

The films were quite bad. The roadtrip was absolute wank. The first half of it was completely unentertaining even though they had the classic car breakdowns. They shouldn't have aired it. And the second half was also bad, although quite not as bad. The challenges were really dull and uncreative. They had a top speed race in extremely slow cars, they had a tug-of-war that had absolutely nothing going for it and they decided to lessen the focus on the cars by adding a bunch of sportsdudes on the back.

Also, even though cheating in challenges is a Top Gear classic, when Chris Evans does it, he doesn't come off as a cheeky bugger but just a complete cunt.

I think the only decent film was the laser tag one, which might be in part due to Sabina being the other driver and actually being entertaining.

The guest section just baffled me. It was really awkward to see Jesse Eisenberg and Gordon Ramsay introduce each other when there was absolutely no logical connection why the two of them were on at the same time. And yet, the guest section actually proved to be the best part of the show; Gordon and Jesse were actually a lot more entertaining than Chris or Matt. Especially Gordon. I imagine the guest section would have been better if you had taken out Chris completely.

The biggest issue of the show remains to be Chris. His fake enthusiasm is enraging and he has absolutely no delivery. Matt actually managed to have some okay delivery in the episode. But Chris just tanked, absolutely.

Just watching Extra Gear, I love how you can see the pedals when Chris is driving the Nomad, I've never really seen the heel-toe technique in action before, it's pretty cool.

Yes Chris Evans is a twat, and the bits with LeBlanc felt so scripted. Their bits in general were so rushed and jammed together.

But I loved the Dodge Viper, what a car. And I really like the new rally track to be honest, you could see a much vaster difference between an experienced driver (Gordon Ramsey) and an inexperienced one (Eisenberg) when it came to the dirt, and it's good they're driving a slightly better car now.

I definitely feel like this Top Gear can give more in-depth car insight than before. Clarkson and Co. don't really know a lot about cars and aren't very descriptive about it. Whereas Schmitz and Harris are both proper racing drivers who talk about all the details. And I'm sure Eddie Jordan will be like that too
