Wankel engines seem really cool, but I guess they have problems with the apex vane seals wearing out?
It seems like there are two possible solutions to this
>make the vanes super-high-tech, e.g. liquidmetal, so they last longer
>make the vanes cheap and something you change along with the oil
Is there hope?

Probably just a better produced, better quality metal for the seals. It's been 17+ years since Mazda have actually made a new engine so I'm sure there's some technological advancements that they could make use of to make a better apex seal.

I was thinking more about motorcycles
Man i sure hope they make them more durable. Rotaries were sick.
Fuck economy, fuck the planet, give me rotaries for ever. A hydrogen rotary am beste

>make the vanes super-high-tech, e.g. liquidmetal, so they last longer
>dynamic apex seal
>liquid metal
do you have even the slightest idea what you're talking about, OP?
>>15136377
Not really. Doesn't the material just have to be durable?
I mean, do you know what liquidmetal is?
>>15135789
wankels can get enough compression without apex seals tho, just need to run at like 9000 rpm
Rx-7 General

Like this?

Jesus those buildings must be gigantic, why are they paneled with wood though?
>>15135783
>>15138151
It's not really a huge problem. The engines are incredible simple to rebuild. Similar to rebuilding a two-stroke in complexity.
The main reason rotaries disappeared was fuel economy and emissions. Although small (300cc?) single rotors are used in some of the Mazda electric vehicles aren't they?

>slower than a stock rx7
how cucked can u get?
>>15135783
>mfw picking up my first wankel soon
>>15138690
Not them but the swap does make sense. I've seen rolling RX-7 shells go for $1000 and an LS1+T56 is stupid cheap to buy. In this city we've only got one or two rotary tuners whereas any of the dyno shops can tune an LSx for you. Better fuel economy and more familiar to a lot of people.
Would I do it? Probably not. Single turbo 13B or a ported 20B is my jam.
Can a Renesis be swapped into an FD? Would it be better than the stock engine (not comparing turbos)?
>>15141681
it would not
Renesis a shit
>>15141693
Why? Is it just because the Renesis isn't designed for turbo?
>>15138649
its a model car ya dum dum
>>15135783
>but I guess
Oh shit nigga you guess? Better tell someone nao you gotta let someone else know about your brand new intuitions b4 it's too late
