Veloster Turbos seem affordable and can do 0-60 in 6.8 that's roughly as fast as a modern stock Miata

Once you swap the stock twins for a single with electronic boost control and delete the rats nest of vacuum lines they're actually not bad reliability wise.

Still guzzle fuel and gotta be careful of flooding and what not, but it won't randomly blow up in your face.
