Honestly they were two completely different games.

Long story short, my dad bought me PS2 HP2, my brother's shitty friend stole it from me. So my mom bought me GameCube version of HP2.
(Parents were separated, lived at different houses.)
The GameCube version was a total letdown from what I was playing.

It was like going from steak to McDonald's hamburger meat.

>The GameCube version was a total letdown from what I was playing.

Holy shit seriously? the gamecube version was the ONLY one i played because i didn't get a playstation until well after the PS3 came out (cough* ultra poorfag cough*)(although i still enjoyed the hell out of it nonetheless) i didn't even realize there were differences between the versions and i thought they all played like the gamecube version... I've been playing a lie...
>>
>>15079026
What the fuck. I only had access to the PC version ...
>>
>>15079045
No doubt I was let down from the changes. I can't remember specifics, but I certainly remember being disappointed. I think it was a lot of small details and changes overall that made it a lesser game.

Nevertheless I still played it. And honestly if I was never introduced to the PS2 version, I could see why the other versions were still fun to play.

To followup though id say Forza 4 was my favorite racing game. I got the game as soon as it released in 2011 and i started watching Top Gear around 2010 so it was the perfect storm as a had a craving for anything car-related. Loved the fact that Clarkson would be narrating some of the cars in Autovista and this commercial right here sold the fucking game for me (well not really but it definitely impacted my decision)
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JxpEUE7FgnE

Forza 4 felt like a HUGE fucking step up from the previous racing games i played when i was younger. the last major racing game i played before this was Need for Speed Shift. the customization and car selection felt massive (granted i played Forza 4 before i played any of the Gran Turismo games as previously mentioned i didn't have any platstation)

I put so many hours into that game that i ended up getting Max (level 50) infinity level with Porsche and Ford as well as completing every single race in the event list leading to the "Bucket List" achievement.

>pic related is a screenshot of my xbox and my career

I wish i could erase my memory of it so i could experience it all over it again..
>>
>>15079214
This
I honestly don't think they'll be able to top Forza 4. Even as much as I like 6 it pales in comparison to 4.

What went so right?
>>
probably driver 3 or driver parallel lines, driver 2 was fun too

I used to play a lot of motorstorm, gran turismo, stunt driver and flat out aswell
>>
My first racing game was NFS Hot Pursuit 2 and Midnight Club 1, both for the PS2. If I had to choose, both are good and flawed. it's really a toss up. Midnight Club has the advantage of not having to force load the game (from what I remember) whereas HP2 did (countless timesI had to redo races when it didn't autoload my career) HP2 has better handling than MC1 and looks so much better.

>>15079262
It was the last Forza before they fucking put 50% of the cars behind a paywall.

It struck the best balance between the gameplay and simulation. Forza 5 tried to plug itself as a accurate sim but it was fucking anything but. Forza 6 continued the trend of dumbing-down of the gameplay (despite Turn10 always lauding the added simulation power of the next gen consoles) and more paywalling. Fucking Jews.

Tbh just isn't the same even though most cars are closely modeled after real life ones. Also far too limited in car customization, and performance tuning is limited to "Pay 18000000 to level up ur engine ;)"

Also Midnight Club 3 had the right atmosphere, really hated how Midnight Club LA felt so damn fake
>>
>>15080385
Actually, I think I know why MNC3 was so much better, it built hype with the tri-city model. You felt like you advanced somewhere when you were racing in Detroit vs San Diego, and the tournament in the end really built that to a point. LA was just a whole lot of the same city, only really big now.

I was skeptical of Forza Horizon when I first bought it, but it turned out to be one of the best games I've ever played. There wasn't a lot of the Need for Speed culture in the storyline, just racing and assholes and trying to beat those assholes. Exploring the world was a joy too; trying to find the boards and the cars scattered around the world. Racing events were implemented so that you would be using a wide variety of cars, which gave you an appreciation to cars you wouldn't have given a second glance at.

I also really, really, really like the soundtrack

A MK4 Supra can put him away in drag races,as long as it's fully modded.
A fully-modified R34 GT-R can whoop his ass in grip.
Use an Evo 9 for speed challenges, with lots of nitrous and every mod.

Make sure to get the aero maxed out too,and make sure to do practice runs to tune the suspension. And don't be afraid to ram him into a wall either.

Midnight club 3
Need for speed most wanted(original)
>>
in order starting with the best:

>Midnight club 3 dub edition (xbox, psp)
+ Everything about it was good, different car clubs and no need for excessive rice.
- Lack of old non-American cars.

>Need for speed underground 2 (xbox)
+ Everyone’s favourite, long game with good customization.
- Have to rice to get on magazines, a little to cheesy.

>Need for speed underground 1 (xbox)
+ Crazy nostalgia, gfx way ahead of its time.
- No freeroam.

>Midnight club LA remix (psp)
+ Awesome choice of cars, good soundtrack.
- Finished to fast, felt rushed.

>Forza 4 (xbox 360)
+ Good graphics, car selection, tracks, customization, online lobbies.
- I'm more interested in fast shitboxes rather than exotics, so the end game for me isn't as fun.

>Need for speed carbon (psp)
+ Amazing storyline, touge, amazing storyline, not over the top like all the other nfs games, amazing storyline.
- Not as much customization, not remembered as much.

>Juced eliminator (psp)
+ Good soundtrack, fun to pass the time.
- No freeroam, very arcade-like, not much customization.

>Juced 2 hot import nights (xbox 360)
+ Good idea, very good customization.
- Awful mechanics and gravity, bad graphics.

Street Legal Racing: Redline is the best worst game I have ever played. Fantastic attention to detail, being able to tune every part of a car, interesting damage model where you can literally blow your engine, but an unholy number of incomprehensible glitches and graphics that look like they were made in the late 90's.

This game is honestly underrated as hell
>unique atmosphere, very few grassroots racing games out there
>decent car selection for its time
>more realistic than Shift. There I said it
>great music
>surprisingly difficult, especially the fucking Speed challenges
I'll admit limiting your cars to one discipline was annoying and you could only bring one backup car of a single discipline to race days but come on, real life motorsports do it too so it's kind of justified

I was running an S7 by the time I just couldn't keep up with the reflexes. Couldn't bike it because I didn't have the feel for them.
But I 'won' by basically cheating. I looked at my funds and the sale value of my cars, bought an entry-level bike, and just fucking sold everything else. Then I spent the million dollars and 'bought' everything back again.

LA had the most emotional investment in a racing game, though. I bought an Evo, raced it a few time, and decided to smoke some asshole in a Corvette in a pink slip race.
I was set to win, then hit a truck on the last intersection. Then he passed me and won, the rubber-banded asshole.
I had to claw my way back up to buy another, then smoked his ass twice; once for my car, once for his.
>>
>>15091111
What do you mean you couldn't keep up with the reflexes? Half the time you have to slide around corners to decimate without a bike, do you even use the special abilities?

The closest we may ever get to that is Criterion's Most Wanted from 2012. As much as people hated that game, I actually enjoyed it quite a bit myself.
>>

Not that I thought it was a terrible game, but I hated that they tried to pass it off as a new NFS game when it's obviously just Burnout.

I never minded NFS being all over the place. I suppose I'm biased though, since I have bought/played almost every game since NFSU2. Leaderboards for things other than class racing, car soccer, public custom races that were joinable by fucking randos, fujimi, and a storefront, where shit was easy to find, and paint/vinyl/tune creators were actually rewarded. Forza 5 was a colossal fuckup, but they still sold the fucking game to normies and blind fanboys. They pulled the same shit with FM6. Oh, and they added pouring rain, night driving in cars with no headlights, and autovista for every car. Gimmicks won out, substance suffered for it.

Here's to hoping that Horizon 3 won't be absolute shit.

How is Midnight Club 3 Dub Remix for ps2 vs the psp version?

I ask because the ps2 version is too much for my rig to emulate atm, so I'm currently eyeing the psp version. I heard an entire city is missing or some such.

Could they still be considered the same game, or is the psp version highly inferior and not worth comparing?
>>

I'm currently playing TDU2 with the latest dlc, unofficial patch, and community car pack. Its pretty great imo.

Ibiza and Hawaii are fucking huge maps, and theres traffic to drive through. No other game fills that niche as far as I know.

My only real gripe is that the braking physics are too forgiving even with all assists off. You can threshold brake and still turn around corners without incurring massive understeer.

I fucking loved that game. I remember when I first got it I didn't quote know what a Porsche was, and I misread it as "purchase unleashed". I assumed that meant you'd buy it and your purchase would be unleashed. It was in a miscellaneous bin of CDs for sale at school, too. I still have the original CD. Playing it again last year made me realize you don't normally have boatloads of cash in the career mode. When I first played it, I used to grind the races over and over again to unlock just about all of the upgrades on the cars (and make bank) before moving on. That kind of mentality probably explains why I loved Runescape...

Have a mod for mine which lets me do any car any track any weather, and also comes with this retarded rally grid start option

Where's a good site for pirating games? I've never done it and I want to play Underground again without having to pay more than I payed 10 years ago.

>>15100469

I had Carbon for the Wii. Story was too short but I love the car customization and car selection. I also wish the classes were more balanced. I was just playing it this last week and a Tuner with everything on acceleration is absolutely better than Muscle and Exotic.

>>15107352

Probably because it didn't work. I bought it on Steam and every time I go to play it I have to fuck around with different stuff to make sure it doesn't crash when loading a race.

For anyone wondering, there is a race -- Mercedes Invitational -- that's bugged. There are two sections where the AI will reach ridiculous speeds in a second and slam into walls and shit. Worst, the other spot is near the finish line. You can be doing well and at the last moment a car could slip past you going 220mph.

this

>start of the game
I used to run an Evo X and put all of my money earned from races to gradually upgrade it and rice it out.
Later lost it in a pink slip race the exact same way you did.
Kept bringing out the other cars I'd previously won and losing them too, one after another.

I feel less shitty now , thx
Also the burnout 3 F1 race was just crazy fast , that one really required skill
>>
>>15108102
Revenge is indeed sweet. I remember now that I kept his Vette and pimped the shit out of it, only selling it when I needed the S7 later.

I think the real fun of the game was up to the start of Class A. After that, it was just dumb.

Both Midnight Club 3 and LA Remix for PSP are the highest selling racing games for the PSP at their times. So take what you will with that.

I haven't played 3 and only played very little of LA Remix. But the graphics are great, the cars handle great, and while the map is reused from Midnight Club 2's LA you get MC3's Tokyo map to compensate. There's really no reason not to pick up either game if you can find them

pic related. Loved this game for grind, the awesome cars and seattle circuit.

I'd rotate between that and this:
>>15078933
>>15078995
>>
>>15112481
Or you could maybe, you know, not have the retarded heat mechanic and not be force to change how your car looks every 10 minutes.
>>
>>15099343
lol i used to jerk off to the girls in this game when I was like 13 or 14. Great game.
>>
>>15112500
Heat was useful for getting into high-level pursuits quickly for achievements.
>>
>>15108072
except it didn't. The High Stakes damage model was great, the PS had nothing close to it. You could actually see the dents and broken body panels in the PC version. The physics were also much better, and if you ever rammed/sideswiped a speeder head-on with a closing speed of over 150mph as a cop in pursuit mode you'd know that. Of course, considering you're disagreeing with me it's safe to say you haven't. Also, for what it's worth, the graphics are much better as well.
>>
>>15112601
>heat was useful for getting into high level-pursuits
Which then generated more heat which then made you get into more pursuits so that near endgame you couldn't leave the fuckin garage without getting noticed by cops and chased around for 15 minutes.

Honestly though, I really liked MW when it came out but the police chases had always annoyed the fuck out of me. They were nothing but a nuisance towards the end of the game after their novelty has worn off and the chases were up to 30 minutes long if you were unlucky.

I support this choice.

I also put some many hours into that game, and I still play it today. (I have more than 1500 hours on it, lvl +250). Still haevn't finished the event list, since I'm not a huge fan of S and above cars.

This game was the last of its franchise to feature japanese tracks, especially Tsukuba.
Forza 6 looks nice, I really like Brands Hatch but, come on, Tsukuba was too important to be skipped. Forza 4 community heavily revolves around Tsukuba drifting lobbies (and Suzuka East), how can you expect to attract players without those.

Anyway, here is my Top List:

God-tier:
>Forza 4
>Burnout 3 (For arcade)

>Great-tier:
>Forza 6
>Forza Horizon
>DRIVER SF (nice weight transfer for an arcade game)

Good -tier:
>GRID 1 (bought again to play the drift mode without assist)
>Burnout Paradise
>GTA IV (best physics in the franchise)

Honorable Mention:
>PGR 4
>Crash'n'Burn (wrecks and fire around the track + demolition derby)

I want to try-tier
>Project Cars (high expectations)
>Asseto Corsa (with a wheel)

Bad-tier
>GT5
>GT6
>Forza 5

GT5 and 6: vacuum symphony, fixed camera, heavy on japanese cars (no E30 M3 wtf ?!), stupidly high force feedback (impossible to play on controller), cramped fingers on controller, low-res cars, 232355 Miatas and Skylines, limited number of cars to drive outside the career mode, lots of fucked up stock gearboxes, can't increase tire width, and the list goes on...
>>
>>15113633
>GT5&6
>bad tier
Spotted the Forza fanboy, sorry your fatasses fingers can't grip a PlayStation controller, maybe next time try a wheel,o r maybe a golf ball and a hose since you suck that hard
>>
>>15113613
>310
Huh. That's unusual.
>>
>>15113633

>>
>>15113687
Not him but I've played GT since back in 97(you're probably too young to remember back then). GT is good series but Forza blows it the fuck out especially 5 and 6. I guarantee the only reason you like it is because you're a weeb and it has 27 GTRs in the game
>>
>>15113881
I was 14 when I first got GT but nice try, I never subscribed to Forza because I didn't have any Microsoft systems, and the reason why I liked it was because of the beginning of the series and I stuck with it, nice try though Forzafag
>>
>>15113633
>>GTA IV (best physics in the franchise)
Your opinion is now invalid.
>>
TXR will probably always be my favorite series.
I would play the shit out of Drift 2, but it has a bug when emulated that puts several parts on the screen.
