Do you atleast have a controller of some sort? Because more realistic driving games aren't at all fun with a keyboard imo. But anyway, here are some recommendations:

Why does it matter that you found it on reddit?

Anyway, his settings are just fine for the logetec profiler. As for rfactor itself, id just grab real feel and install it. Than set up the wheel settings in game. Most well done rf1 mods include a real feel setting in the car options. you really don't need to have all those crazy buttons bound for changing ffb.

If done right than you should not feel anything crazy input wise but rather something that has good feel for the basic tire model of rf1.

I'm a retard and can't get this thing to work.

I put realfeel and so on and configured it according to:
isiforums.net/f/showthread.php/614-rFactor-Better-FFB-Tutorial
I jump into the game, load tsukuba and one AE86 from the pastebin, nothing more, and while I kinda can turn and shit, game degree of rot and real rot are different, plus brakes and shit won't work.
So I load the G27 profile from in game, and vid related happens.
Then... (next post, another webm).

The FIA is attaching their name to a GT league.
I think they did that with Forza as well. In Forza everyone was in Formula-E cars. The racing was occasionally good but it could probably have benefited from a larger grid than the 12 players it had (the game supports 24).

Of course, these things really just prove what we already knew: People take bigger risks in videogames than they do in real life, because just about everyone crashed at least once.

I was hoping for advice that doesn't involve modifying the car.
I can probably shave off 1-2 seconds by taking couple of corners better, I have ideas for those.
But 3 seconds seems a bit much currently.
>>
>>15080714
last halfpin wasn't smooth at all, also maybe you can try taking corners like 0:26 faster/wider/whatever. but mostly shorter gears anon is right, you should mess around with setup.

I think it's kinda possible on high difficulty level. Getting out of corner without speed before fast long sections is really killing the time.

Corner around 0:44 could be done better as well, you slowed down a lot there. Not critically bad like last halfpin, but still.
>>
>>15081424

On Open, your bot opponents are slow and you can even stop before every halfpin and you still won't lose too much time. On Masters, even slightly fucked up corner means minus one second before they're using it as well as it's possible, making difference between their corner time and your corner time bigger than Open ones.

alrighty, i just tried to beat this stage in stratos on my own and i think i have a good advice: try to beat it without drifting. It's not most optimal way to play this game, but i think it will be a good exercise and you'll learn something important from it - plus got 8 seconds ahead first driver without drifting, so i guess it's a good way to beat open-tier bots.

Stratos drifts itself, but it's not always a good thing.

properties in rf1 are set in the objects themselves, with the material names only used for reference by the .tdf file to decide how the car reacts to different surfaces. Spawns are set to 0,0,0 by default until you go into dev mode and enter the aiw editor. there are no physical objects that set spawns like AC

drifting is only worth it on the loose surface stages, on tarmac it makes you so slow. rallying is quite different from circuit racing, with an AWD car at least (which the stratos isnt, id recommend getting one asap unless you're a god with RWD) you tend to just "guide" the car around the stage while sliding around and keeping a good racing line, you'll have good momentum and take the corners extremely fast without slowing down, it's something you have to practice though.

cold air is more dense, meaning you can fit more air into the engine each cycle, which translates into a better bang and more power.

It's kinda how turbos work you know, they spool air and condense it before feeding it to the engine. The colder the air, the better the performance.

But if that is the case then why do I have the better time in the vid than in your webm?
>>
>>15083134
your line through the first corner and both hairpins needs work.

>turn 1
Look for a late turn in, try and aim for a late apex and get on the gas as early as you can. A good exit here can mean over half a second of time gained.

>first hairpin
Try to go as far to the right as you can before the corner and then cut hard left so both your left wheels JUST miss the apex.

>2nd hairpin
you broke way too late in the vid and missed the corner completely. Brake a bit earlier, again try to use the whole track. Go as far left as you dare before cutting the wheel right. Focus on a good exit and get on the gas as early as you dare for a good top speed on the following straight.
>>
>>15083134
You're locking up the tyres at almost every braking point.
You're going to deep into the first- and last hairpin
You're not using the whole width of the road coming out of some corners.

Yeah, the right config, FFB at 100%, other's at 0, then 900°, and so on.
Vanilla rF1 with the in game G27 is annoying and doesn't work correctly.
rF1 with the real feel and leo thingies either work really bad or not at all.
>>
>>15083134
>1st hairpin
Your line is good there. That's how I took it to get a 1:01.

>S curves
Okay, but coming up to the hairpin there you're braking far too early. Come in braking way late and use the bank on that corner to aid braking, then let off the brakes as you turn in and accelerate out.

>Right hander after hairpin
That's a 3rd gear corner. You're going way too slow. Hit the outer rumble strip from there and just take the line on the subsequent lefthander. You should be able to go through there pretty much flat in 3rd.

>2nd hairpin
You're braking too hard while turning in. Locking up the brakes fucks up your time really bad. Take a late apex there and just brake hard in a straight line, it'll let you carry more speed down the back straight which is gonna affect your time more than taking that corner a bit slower.

>last 2 corners
Once again, way too slow. Those should be 4th gear and almost flat out.

Care to explain, and what value should it be? I'd really like to take part in the AE86 runs we're doing this time.
>>
>>15083266
The 86 FFB is kinda shitty. My G27 is sitting at -100% in-game FFB strength, 900 degrees of lock and works well enough. Steering is really light but it works enough for me to correct oversteer.
>>
>>15083278
Thanks, do you use anything other than the vanilla rF1 controller set up?
>>
>>15083288
Not really. I just bind reset FFB and hit it before I leave the pits, then E-brake to some buttons along with other shit like that. My pedal settings are a bit different though because I'm using Fanatec CS V2s instead of the regular pedals.
>>
TOUGE 2 WHEN
>>
>>15083266
Most newer games will let you adjust amount of degrees your wheel can turn but rFactor is old and doesn't have this feature.
The amount of rotation that is best is personal. You can imagine that you don't need 900° for an F1 car as opposed to a drifting car.
I you feel that you need to turn the wheel too much then you should increase the steering lock in-game in the controller menu until it's to your liking. I also believe ISI recommends you set your FFB type to wheel and effects to low.

>>
>>15083379
Ah, and i forgot to mention: i was using stock setup, like you, but setup is super important - you can gain a lot with gearbox alone, and then you also have more serious suspension options to make car better in handling. It changes to right well, but then to left it won't, then after a while it doesn't read it well at all.
I mean, I'm swamped with tons of issues besides that.
Shifting doesn't work properly either, I fully press clutch, shift into gear but it makes a clanky sound as if it's not syncing or something, then the engine after a lap.

Yes, sorry, it's controller.ini, Steering Wheel Range.
That value must be the same you got in the Logitech Profiler.

You must press the clutch fully. If you already did and still isn't working, check if it's an hardware problem: some older G27 got problems with the potentiometers in the pedals, try to spray them with WD40.

The latest RealFeel doesn't need the Leo plugin because it's already included, else you will get strange behaviour.
I use GSC default settings for it, which are:

RealFeelIsOn=True
ConsoleEnabled=False
ConsoleRepeatDelay=0.100000
SpeechEnabled=False
KeyRepeatDelay=0.100000
SteerForceInputMax=11500.000000
MinSpeed=0.000000
DefaultMaxForceAtSteeringRack=-2000.000000
DefaultSteeringDamper=11500.000000
DefaultFrontGripEffect=0.200000
DefaultSmoothingLevel=0
VehicleDelimiterSize=5
DefaultKf=11500.000000
DefaultKs=7.000000
DefaultA=1.000000
DefaultKr=3.000000
And then I change the force while in game with the key combo.

Awesome, thanks a lot.
And dunno, the clutch is working in every other game, and when I check settings in game, it registers and shows the clutch travel and all, but while driving it's just missing.

Have you actually played this game? You could drive backwards, wreck someone under yellow, PM them and call them a nigger, then spam their facebook with niggerniggerniggernigger followed by calling their boss and saying they rape babies and still be allowed back as long as you're a circlejerk whale.

I'm currently reinstalling AC because I wanted to wipe a few things.
I don't remember there being templates for that in the game pre-this patch.
Also, there's templates for team and other shit.
I've been getting by with what I find from other people's mods, but it'd be cool to have templates for everything to help my autism.

what is the main site for AC mods?
>>
>>15084446
Driver model files are easily moddable, you just have to put files of right name into skins car folder and there you are.

For example, there is sparco gloves pack and it works with every car that uses standard modern driver model, all you have to do is put properly named file in skin folder.

This reminds me of the article which talked about the ovg GT3 series (which funnily enough is the whole reason I found out about ovg) where he kept adressing himself in third person. It became so bad that I actually thought he didn't mean himself but some other guy named James.
>>
>>15084611
well it's not even his own name. He is that wierd

Multiple reasons actually:
He talked about relaxed rules which was something I was looking for in a simracing community.
The screenshots all showed the variety of skins. Whereas most communities I saw had restrictions of "You're not allowed to use this skin because it doesn't look like a real race car" (again, having to do with the senselessly more strict rules), I saw cars with stuff like Sanic or Hatsune Miku eating a burger or other silly stuff plastered all over them.
The way he talked about how the close the races ended up to be also intrigued me.
And then, I actually looked for a simracing community on 4chan once but didn't find anything on /vg/ so I just guessed that something like that wouldn't exist. Now thinking about it, I'm kinda glad it's not on /vg/ after all
Eventhough James's articles are pretty shit (I don't even know how I stumbled upon that one), I'm happy that I found it and I've had quite a lot of fun here already.

Forgot to mention, I absolutely love this part:
>And this is how the season ended. A backmarker lagged into the pack of leaders during the season finale at Interlagos, destroying all of the leaders except James, who went on to win the race and the championship.
Even when I read it back then, it sounded like something from a bad fan fiction some teenager wrote and it cracked me up
>And then all the bad people died and I won and got all the pussy in the world and I was the best and everyone loved me. The end.
