rFactor Pro satisfies racing teams and manufacturers

I've seen Initial D Extreme Stage posted here a few times so I was wondering if I could get some advice. I'm using the MR2 and I have been able to beat the initial racers twice except I can't beat Takumi on Akina even once. I'm perplexed as Takumi is 8 star difficulty but I can defeat the other 8 star drivers and I can even beat the 9 star Godfoot including rematches. Is it a car choice problem or is this scrub going to have to git gud.

Uh yeah, that's how cars work. The brakes exist for a reason.

Seems that many people underestimate the timing, skill, and physical knowledge needed to drive a real race car. It is not "stomp on the gas and turn sometimes", nor can you expect a vehicle to proceed thru a 90-degree turn at 160 mph, but so many people I've personally introduced to rFactor or other sims make the same stupid mistakes, trying to play it like Need For Speed, often complaining when the car responds by understeering into a wall because they went to full lock under full braking.

Frankly it frightens me a little to know that there are people on this planet who don't take driving seriously enough to even know what understeer is or why it happens.

It's a lot harder when you have little to no feedback. A full-sim racing game with a full rig will never be anything like actually driving on a track. You only get visual and audio (and occasionally basic touch) feedback, where actually being in the seat allows you to use every sense to pilot the vehicle.

to add to this, even if i disable it I can still shift into any individual gear without using the clutch, which shouldnt be possible unless im using a car with flappy paddles. i'm using the NSX which definitely does not have those, but yet it can go into gear whether or not i decide to use the clutch, and then it decides to stay in neutral for a bit before it actually decides to shift into gear, making the whole thing feel unresponsive.

So, I was looking at the doc and realized we had no series to run, and had a thought after seeing how bad ovg is at racing. How would people feel about a series that was OVGRS (OVG Racing School) in rF2? It would be on a Sunday, and involve some short races in Spec Miats (Supercharged if you must), something FWD (maybe the Clios) and the Skip Barbers, and would aim to help ovg improve their driving and racing by going back to basics in RWD, FWD and Open Wheelers. Then, as a season ending race, we can graduate to the big boy cars and do a 1hr (or whatever) race in something serious.

Get a decent sim for hotlapping like Rfactor. Hop into the AE86 league server to practice gitting gud. The cars are quick enough that you can put down fast laps, easy to control, RWD with enough power to break the rear loose, and they don't have a rev limiter. all that shit should help you learn good car control which always translates to being fast.

Maximum power is at 9k with the C/S engine, but like that anon said, there is no rev limiter, so you have to shift at around 9/9.5k. Above that you don't make any power. Also the car is more vulnerable with a cold engine too. In the server mech. failures are off because of this.

Yeah but in real life you can look even further to the sides by moving your eyes while only slightly moving your head. Since the Vive or Rift doesn't track eye movement and only head movement, it makes sense for them to be able to move there head that far. Combining head+eye movement you can surely move your field of vision at least 80° in real life, why should that not be possible in a game with only head movement?
