The best thing you could do if you want a Honda is import one from another state. Texas, Arizona and New Mexico are good places for that, however if you buy a 2000 dollar car, it's going to cost another 700-1000 to ship. Definitely worth it though as long as it doesn't get stolen.

The EJ1 is the better one, however the ED6 with the franken D15 wouldn't be bad either. The best thing to do with both of these is find a DA9 airbox and snorkel since I've concluded that it's the most isolated. That or make your own aluminium isolation box.

Those are probably the two best you've posted. The EJ1 you can probably get down to 3k-3200 and the ED6 probably around 1700 at lowest since both of these have been builds.

The B20B high comp is a great engine though. That mated to that GSR transmission could spank VTEC Hondas.

As they do get better back to the third gen, the EJ1 would be a much better Honda than the ED6 because of the mods and SiR parts. Weight plays a huge role when you look at them with the original engines, however a B20B (EJ1 probably weighs 2400 or somewhere around there) works well with something like that since it's a DX. All around, it'd be a good buy.

Sixth gen Civics are good and seventh gen is alright. The EM2 and EP3 are great Civics, I think.

Tower bracing, under bracing. Then off course suspension it's a good investment for sway bars and such. With FWD, smaller sway on the front and rear. If you have large enough of a sway bar on the rear, it's night and day handling. For a Civic, all you should need is a 24mm on the front and 28mm on the back. It'll make it oversteer like a bastard then lol

Trust me you don't want the head ache of a 240, they consider holes in the floor pan a good conditon Silvia. The strut towers will crack given time and the only thing you can do is weld them or cut them out and weld new metal in, same with the rocker frames, they will disintegrate and you need to weld new ones in, they rust literally every where, Nissan used some poverty tier metal when making the car. Bondo is a 240sx owners best friend. Other than that they need tons of chassis reinforcement to be competitive because they're the epitome of a wet noodle. They were cheap back when for good reason, now they have this odd cult following that doesn't make any sense given that they're pretty much a heart transplant recipient in a 90 year old body, by that I mean sr20 swaps.

Couldnt remove the fukken bolt and snapped a low tier breaker bar at the joint with a 3 ft cheater bar. Prior to that took it to a garage but their impact wrench couldnt touch it.
Bought some top notch stuff and will give it a go with a 6 ft scaffolding tube. The thing has been blasted with oil for a week now.

I plan on buying a 2002 civic si hatch from vegas (I live in LA) and it's for a really good price and I've already talked him down to $3500 (all other hatchbacks either have 1 gorillion miles or are $1k more expensive). The problem is

That model only came in manual, k series engines are practicality bullet proof, it will burn about a quart/1000 miles, that's normal operation. I got mine in very good shape for $2400 with 165k km on the odo. Check for rust on all wheel arches, check that the window regulators work and both door locks work, my driver side actuator died twice, it's a weak areas on the ep3. Check if the hatch latch is stuck. I recommend buying a double din, you're going to have to go to Honda to get a stereo code if you buy the original. They used my Vin for mine.

Stuff for these cars are rare. If it doesn't have the hazard button your blinkers won't work at all.

I see a lot of cars in here that need obvious body work, but still have rimz and tires and shit.

if you want to do a good build you should start with fixing the body.
buy the time you spend $1k on good tires and wheels you could have just got a mid grade paint job after fixing the rust and everything.

if it's your only car I understand, but if it's a second car or a project car. idk, id like to start with a fresh body.
nothing really ruins the look of your car like a sun baked clear coat flaking hood and roof.

It's not that I am against Tein. I am against springs marketed as "lowering springs" because generally they aren't a fixed rate spring. They are a progressive rate spring and it makes performance driving unpredictable. You can get Eibach springs for the Ground Control store for $65 each in whatever length and spring rate you need.

That is true, but I believe progressive spring rates are better for a daily driving purpose just for that reason, no?
Roads are unpredictable, so I will need a spring that is flexible to handle multiple types of road bumps.
In a track context, linear would make more sense because the roads are pretty even.

Its not progressive in a sense of being able to handle different loads. It is progressive by the spring rate increasing the more the spring is compressed. Most cars come with linear rate springs from the factory. Also it is easier to get your shock adjustments dialed in with linear rate springs.

Check the trans dipstick if it has one. And if it doesn't, go underneath and open the trans fill bolt. Put your finger in there to check the level. If you feel the trans fluid is full, or near the the top, it's probably done recently. To double check, dip paper towel into the fill hole and see if the paper towel has a reddish tint to it. OEM Honda ATF is reddish in color when new. If the paper towel is darkish brown, it's time to change it.

Yeah, I feel embarrassed when people actually compliment the hatch because to me its just a bunch of the rice, and I want to go back to more stock but to do that i'd have to replace the lowering springs.

I've had some issues with her as well such as ball joints being really squeaky but only at low speeds and its skipping on idle but runs fine on road and idling after being on the road. I'm also debating painting the aftermarket side skirts black or just go back to stock for them as well. The current skirts are only being held in by bolts/screws, which I hate. Also having trouble getting the bumper/grille to sit flush with the hood, probably gonna have to adjust the lights to do it.

Fucking cats, man. I own a black car and birds don't give me such hard time. Probably because it isn't parked below a tree or something. But the cats.. I live in a line type (twin?) house with four apartments in line. We take care of our surroundings the most and we are the only ones who don't have a cat. They like to poop where the surroundings are the cleanest and they pee on the cars. Sometimes in the morning you can see that there are muddy cat paw marks on the hood and when you turn on the car it tends to stink in the saloon for a minute cause they pee on the windshield and in the vents. Main relay maybe? People kept pointing to that when my old Civic stopped receiving fuel.

What year is it? I don't think they moved to OBD2 until 1996. Before then you just used a paper clip in one of the plugs in the passenger footwell and deciphered CEL flashes.
