Hey, /o/.
Bought a Ninja 250r 2008 about a year ago and I was thinking of moving up to a Yamaha mt07 (restricted for A2 ie 35kw).

I loved the look of sports bikes for some time now but I've recently become partial to naked bikes and I've heard plenty of good things about the mt07 and it seems like a good fit for me, but I'm not 100% sure yet.

I plan to use it for commuting into the city across the highway ~ 30 minutes a day, city riding regularly as well as country riding so pretty much everything and from what I've seen it seems relatively well rounded.

Any thoughts on the matter?

its a fun bike. next project is to get rid of the bar vibration at high speeds. probably need to get a new handlebar. it's not as bad as i make it sound. if i see a correctable problem, i will fix it if i can. there had to be some cost cutting at play here.

Heres the thing, the bikes themselves are fine yes, but it's the elctronics that fail quite commonly on ducatis. And generally when an electronic something fails, it's really tough to get fixed, can take multiple times of leaving it at a dealer etc etc, as long as you have warrenty through dealer you're okay, because newer duc's have so many electronic gizmos, it can really take alot of time

A couple. They are big for sure but the only downside is they have a wider turning circle than a 100% supersport... Also don't drop it cause it is heavy as fuck!

So I just put a new battery in my bike and started it up to run around the block and when I pulled into back into my garage it started reving up like I was holding the throttle. I hit the kill switch and it kept going, so I popped the seat and pulled the fuse for the electronics and disconnected the battery, it kept running so I pulled the plug wires and it still kept running even with the spark plug wires disconnected. I shut the fuel off and let it burn the gas that was left in the carbs and it finally shut off. After I reconnected everything and fired it up again on what little gas was left and it fired up and ran fine this time. Thing is the bike isn't supposed to be able to run without the battery because of the way Yamaha built it.

Think it was carbon build up that caused it to diesel like that? It's an old 2-stroke 250 that I didn't run much last year. Any other thoughts?

If poorfag i would highly advise against getting a 250rr unless it is in awesome condition, those bikes have all been to hell and back when it comes to revving on the red line and 90% of them need new piston and rings before you even get going and thats just the cheap things to replace.

Why are tkc80s so cheap?

Alright so I bought a ZR-7S and so far it's so completely different from my previous bike (SV 650) that I'm almost weirded out by it.

The SV, I could ride through the center of my city in 3rd gear no probs, it would have enough pull in the 1-3k rpm range.

The ZR-7 I'm having to stay in 1st or maybe 2nd gear and have the revs at like 4k+ to have any kind of power.

I knew this was going to happen, just hadn't thought it was going to be this drastic :D

Anyone else have similar experiences when switching engine types?
