So are M2's, pic related. Fuckers wouldn't even let me start the car, let alone take it on a test drive. Their wait list for the M2 is 22 people long and they got an 8-unit allocation this MY.

Focus RS is definitely not 50% more expensive though. An optioned out RS is pretty much 41k MSRP and a 6MT M2 with the one package they offer is around 54k. Obviously it doesn't make up the whole difference but the BMW also has free maintenance for 60k miles.

I was initially all aboard the hype train for the Focus RS pretty much until I sat in one. The interior of cars isn't the most important thing for me but at the end of the day it needs to be a nice place to sit in, and the Focus just didn't deliver that for me. Lots of cheap plastics and the overdesign that's typical of a lot of cars these days. Frankly I think the RS is overpriced while the M2 has really quite surprising value for money. I'm keeping my shitbox that I drove through high school and college for another year and just dropping the extra 13k on the M2; I think I'll be much happier in the long term with it.
