First off, I never drive drunk. I only get drunk at home or if I know I'll have a ride/sleeping there.

But let's be real for a second. Walk into any bar/nightclub, and how many of the people there do you think honestly have a DD?
>>
I still drink and drive but not over 4 beers
>>
I'm always a DD.
>>
>>14989231
you dont need to be able to stand to drive.
>>

No one cars about your man boobs.

Never drink and drive
Pull over, hammer one down, get back on the road
>>
>>14989273

>>
>>14989273
I've shamefully done this on a trip back from Austin. Middle of the night and I was the most sober.

>I don't think we'll make it back without more beer
>four pack of Guinness cans, pull over 3 times to chug one
>get home at sunrise, pound the last one as I park my car

I've done some stupid shit, never gotten in an accident drunk driving though.
>>
>at a friends for a party, still drinking at 7am
>get a phone call about a job interview, ask if I can come in that morning
>agree and drive through 20 minutes of city traffic while properly drunk
>>
>>14989231
My best friend was killed by a drunk diver. I miss him a lot. We had some really great times when we were kids. It really fucking sucks to have a lifelong best friend get killed just because some motherfucking son of a bitch wanted to get hamered. The guy is now doing 5 years in prison btw. I plan of tracking him down when he gets out. Im going to meme him to death with my miata.
>>
Its hard enough to play games while drunk, wouldn't even think about driving.
>>
>>14989693
I don't understand why people get such a vendetta up about drink driving. If your friend got hit by a bus, would you want to ban buses?
>>14990861
>driving isn't as natural for him as walking
>>
>>14989231
>drinking anything more than a glass of whine at your meal
People at bars chugging down beers are literal junkies getting high. Fucking degenerates having to dull their senses to forget their troubles.
>>

Shut up pussyboi, youre dad was probably drunk as a skunk when he porked your fat bitch of a mom in the back of her dad's farmtruck
>>
>>14990868
yes because you can walk perfectly normal when wasted.
>>
what is your favorite driving beer?

Only time I've ever drove drunk.
>>
With services like Uber and Lyft there is really no reason to drive drunk. Get a ride to the bar/club and get a ride back...it's not rocket science. You have to be seriously dense to drive after drinking. If your excuse is that it's too expensive, just wait until you get popped for a DUI.

I never drink and drive.
Not even "a sip" or whatever.
Not even if it's early morning and I'm not driving till afternoon.

Because if I get into any kind of accident (even not caused by me) and they find any alcohol in you blood, I get charged with a criminal offense, have to pay a huge fine, and get my license revoked for at least 6 months.

And besides that, I firmly believe that only degenerates and subhuman scum get behind of the wheel while under the influence of alcohol or drugs.

I wouldn't like it if some drunk/drugged up driver got into an accident and a member of my family was hurt or killed, so I try to not be one of those faggots.

Y'all disgust me.
>>
I learned my lesson and got off easy. I took a right hand turn while listening to back on the rocks and let the rear wheels out. Shifted to second and over corrected and hit a double parked car with no one in it. I was drinking earlier so I had no choice but to leave with the airbags deployed. I did 120 on a city street and have never been so scared in my life. Cops mailed tickets for leaving the scene a week later. Now it's up to the judge and lawyer. Up until that night I realized I had no regrets in my life. Do not fuck around with alcohol and cars. I am now paying for my car and 3 others to get fixed and I may not have a license. It could have been so much worse.
>>
For some reason drunk hooning isn't as fun as sober hooning or high hooning

I think a lot of people have a daily driver, something to ferry them around to work and shit. So I'd wager at least 75% with the rest being bus riders.

>If your friend got hit by a bus, would you want to ban buses?
No but I wouldn't want to ban Camrys if the drunk driver who ran him over was in a Camry either.
Getting run over doesn't just happen. There has to be some fault.
>bus driver was looking at phone and ran him over
That's illegal for a reason
>bus driver was drunk and ran him over
That's illegal
>Driver was going 70mph through a city and ran him over
That's illegal
>Pedestrian was jay walking and stepped out in front of the bus
That's illegal

It's not about banning the vehicle but the unsafe practice. I don't know how you even came up with that analogy.

I used to get obliterated and drive when I was younger. Now I drink all the time and drive but I only get completely wasted when I'm home with a couple hot chicks.

It's happened to me. I ended up getting blasted at my friend's funeral because I had no idea everything would get so emotional. Nobody walks in to a bar/pub saying "fuck it" and decides to just attempt to drive home drunk, you END UP driving home drunk.

Drinking to get drunk is degenerate.
>>
I drove after slamming two beers once. I was far more cautious than when I drive sober.
>>
>>14989231
It really depends on the circumstances surrounding the drinking for me. I might drink 6 light beers over 4 hours and drive home fine and under the legal limit. Or I might drink 2 strong beers over an hour and have to wait another hour before being alright to drive.

The only reason drinking is so widely accepted is because of its legal status.

I've had maybe 3 or 4 times where I REALLY shouldn't have driven or rode my bike home. I did make it home safe each of those times, but the shame I felt was similar to masturbating to questionable porn.

There were other times where I was okay to drive, but buzzed enough where I probably would've failed a breathalyzer if I got pulled over for some reason.
>>
>>14989231
I'm not gonna comment on drinking and driving , cause i've never done it . I'm one of those sanic tier drivers that's always over the limit , so i'm basically begging to get pulled over . No need to give the cops even more reasons to fuck my day . But who here was driven stoned ? I genuinely think it's worse than drinking and driving

Do people really drive sober?

That's like driving without a lit cigarette. It's impossible!
>>
>>14993755
I think it depends if you're a regular smoker or not. Some of my friends who blaze all the time seem to function quite normally when high.

Myself?

The few times I've drove high were an adventure. Way more difficult than drunk driving. I only smoke on occasion though.
>>
My biggest problem with DUI Laws is the legal limit, 0.08 is a pretty low number for most people.
>>
I've driven the morning after plenty of times, most of the time I am just really tired. I have a test to see if might be anywhere close to be able to drive, i get up from wherever i have been sleeping and go take a piss, if that sends my head spinning and i feel like dirt i probably aint ready yet.
I have had a few dodgy drives after big parties and that made me be a bit more careful
>>
I prefer driving high, most drugs don't disinhibit you as much as alcohol even in larger quantities, especially stims like meth or molly.

I also hate alcohol.
>>
>>14993875
that is pretty low, but a few years ago Scotland set their limit to 0.05 which is insane
if you walk past a pub on a Saturday evening you would exceed the limit
>>
>>14993875
My biggest problem is that DUI checkpoints are unconstitutional.

>>
>>14994005
Primarily, I've never heard of or encountered a DUI checkpoint in which everyone is stopped. In my experience, they only stop those who give them reason to suspect, or they stop 1/5 of cars or similar.
Secondarily, driving on public roads is not a right, despite what your daddy told you. It is a privilege, and as such, police and government officials have the right to stop you at any time.
>inb4 I'm a cuck
>>
>>14989231

Not sure about planet earth, but here in the southeastern USA people drive drunk all the time. For police to get DUI's it's like shooting fish in a barrel. If they really want to make it easy all they do is set up a roadblock on a Friday or Saturday night. I'll drive through and see like 3 or 4 people lined up to be arrested by 9pm.

I drive buzzed regularly, but never drunk.
>>
>>14993823
thank you for your post I will be forwarding it to every pepsi distributer in florida
>>
>>14994075
What kind of checkpoints are you going through? Every one I've encountered, they interrogate each person. You can't just leave your window up and ignore them.

>police and government officials have the right to stop you at any time
Not for no reason. That's just unwarranted harassment. Learn your rights, faggot.
>>
>>14994113
No, they can't detain you, search your vehicle, or anything of that sort without probable cause. Stopping you, asking you a few questions, giving you a breathalyser or a field sobriety test are well within their rights though. Especially late at night.
>>
I was arrested for drunk driving over the winter. 2.5 days in jail, still waiting on court hearing. thank god no one got hurt. Stupid decision, one that I will never repeat. I've been sober 90 days. Don't drink and drive.
>>
>>14994136
>they can't detain you
Oh really? What if I just want to roll on through without talking to anyone? They'd break my window and drag my ass out the car.

>Stopping you, asking you a few questions, giving you a breathalyser or a field sobriety test are well within their rights though
How? They have no real reason to question me unless I've been directly observed by an officer driving while impaired. Simply being on the road late at night isn't a reason. Get real.
>>
>>14994136
>Stopping you, asking you a few questions, giving you a breathalyser or a field sobriety test are well within their rights though. Especially late at night.
How does a state trooper's boot taste?
>>
>>14994136
Everyone is effectively detained until police determine them to be sober. This implies that they suspect every driver of being intoxicated, simply for being on the road at a certain time of night.
>>
>>14989231
I'm ashamed to admit this, but I enjoy driving buzzed.
I only do it out on county roads late at night where no one is around, so the only person to get hurt is me. It's just fun shifting while buzzed.

I got pulled over as the DD the other night on my way home.
I had 3 beers over 6 hours, and had just eaten 6 enchiladas and got pulled over for doing 50 in a 35, which was gay because the speed limit changed from 50, to 35, back to 50with no posted signs on my side of the street. I said that to the cop and that it was my first time in that area and she was pretty understanding and just gave me a warning.

Thx bby

They did fire a guy maybe a year ago for showing up to work drunk (at 5am, so hopefully it was from the night before). Dude had been there forever too. I kinda felt bad because he obviously had a problem so they should've offered treatment before just canning him. Not sure if they had a problem in the past, but I guess it is also different the moment you get behind the wheel of a company semi truck intoxicated.

Thank you sir. I don't even drink anymore, let alone drink and drive. But I can't stand those DUI checkpoints. They go against everything this country stands for. There are way too many cops on power trips and they are given too much power to fuck with you before you are ever convicted of shit.

Drinking and driving is retarded though, mostly because the sober people who get hit by the drunk drivers are normally hurt much worse (or killed) and a lot of habitual offenders are the ones causing these accidents and they are alcoholics with no insurance and a shitty pickup truck. They need to throw the book at these people.

Romania

that only applies if you get into an accident

if they do a random check and find alcohol levels of above 0.15mg/l of exhaled air, you only get your license suspended for 6 months and a fine between 21-50 times the minimum monthly wage.

On a random check, anything above 0.5mg/l is considered a criminal offense and will land you a jail sentence between 1 to 5 years - depending on how drunk you are.

In Romania there's such a thing as "suspended" jail time. As in, you get it put on your criminal record that you got a 2-year prison sentence, but you don't actually serve prison time. But in those 2 years if you get any other criminal offense on your record, you will have to serve the remainder of those 2 years + whatever the other sentence is.

I am OK with this.

Err, you get a suspended sentence if your "crime" wasn't anything serious. So for drunk driving, you get a suspended sentence if you didn't cause any serious accidents or hurt anyone in any way.

>>
>>14999246
And by "six-pack" I don't mean some crazy 8% IPA. Obviously that's way more potent than a shit-tier Budweiser.

It's about knowing your limits. I work in a bar and I know that if I have a shot when we close, a shot right before I leave, and a beer or two in the hour or so in between during clean up I'll be fine. Any more than that and I'll either uber back if there are still some running or I'll walk the 30 minutes.

If I'm going out to dinner or with friends I'll almost always uber back or I'll limit myself yo a few beers.

I definitely drove way too many times when I shouldn't have in my early 20s. Never got caught and never fucked up but I realized a few years ago when all of my friends were getting DUIs that that shit was fucking stupid.

I got pulled over when speed limit went from 55 to 25 construction zone. Luckily my state lets me refuse breathalyzer but I still got a violation (DWAI). Insurance hasn't done anything yet and its been two years....

My friends and I drive around and do tours, smoking weed always. There's been times where we've been pulled over for other stupidities and had to quickly febreeze the car.

Although one time I got arrested with a friend and charged with possession of weed (was less than 3 grams..). Luckily my lawyer was good and I don't have a record or anything.

>>

Well, you know, you can argue and moan how they should leave you alone because going for a joyride half an hour after all the pubs close on a Friday night is perfectly within your rights, and you'd be right, but policemen are not fucking retarded and statistics are legitimate reasons to alter your checkup behaviour.

Yes, they could be checking the same number of cars during every hour of the day but that'd be retarded since chances are almost nil that someone's going to be drunk driving during the early morning rush hour between 7 and 9 on a Monday. On the other hand, the chances are pretty damn high that they will be late at night on a Friday or Saturday.

So really, saying that them doing increased controls at those times is unconstitutional bullying is just intellectually dishonest and pretty mean-spirited to boot.

>meanwhile in Germany
>>
>>14999517
Well, we're just going to have to disagree then. I don't believe that driving around late at night is reason to be interrogated.

How about the police just patrol the streets and look for people driving erratically? Ohhh, right. That would mean they'd have to actually do their job instead of camping out on exit ramps with a butterfly net.
>>
>>14999580
Where I live driving while above a certain alcohol threshold is an offense even if your driving style is perfectly fine. So that's no excuse not to get pulled over. How about you just don't drive during the barfly hours? I mostly drive during daylight time and I've never been pulled over once in six years.
>>
>>14999580

>>
>>14999600
How about people can drive whenever they damn want to without being harassed? Cops should only pull you over if you're exhibiting suspicious behavior (swerving, tail light out, driving too fast/slow...) It's disgusting that you're so willing to throw away your rights.

If your driving style is "perfectly fine", there should be no reason to be pulled over. How drunk you are would be irrelevant.

It's the law, you don't need to agree with it, you just need to not be caught breaking it. Go ahead, get shitfaced and drive at high noon, see how often you get pulled over and checked randomly if you drive perfectly well. Spoiler warning: not at all. Policemen aren't fucking stupid enough to bother people at a time where 99% of them will be in perfectly functional order. It's like you're the most basic, willfully stupid bitch of how to deal with police officers.

>>14999687

Alcohol inevitably slows reaction times down massively. Some people will be able to keep the car going in a straight line but will be unable to brake if a sudden threat appears until well after having plowed into it. No excuses.

It comes with being too fucking stupid to avoid them. Even at checkpoints they profile. If they see a 20something guy alone in his kinda sporty 2 door car and next to him a Volvo wagon with a family of 5 in it on a cross-country drive with the back loaded up with luggage, who do you think gets the breathalyzer test and who is waved through to go ahead on their business?

Try being less dumb and make an effort not to fall into the obvious suspect categories. My cousin once dressed in sagging pants, oversize t-shirt and snapback hat and walked around the inner city, because he likes hip hop so much. Got patted down at the Central Station because the cops suspected him to be a drug dealer. He's the son of two doctors, go figure. It doesn't matter who you are, it matters who you appear to be. Driving around half an hour after the pubs close? Blow into this tube please. You made your bed, now sleep in it.
>>
>>14999781
>It comes with being too fucking stupid to avoid them.
What?! They set up on frequently traveled routes. Am I supposed to exclusively drive on gravel back roads once the sun goes down?

Profiling at checkpoints is irrelevant because I don't think people should have an obligation to speak with police at all if they're not exhibiting suspicious behavior. Simply being on the road is not cause for reasonable suspicion.
>>
>>14999816

Here in VA they have to publish where and when they are.
>>
>>14999816
They are also supposed to post a sign before the checkpoint saying it's coming up so you have the option to avoid it.

But those signs happen to be like 100yds away where you have to pull some ridiculous u-turn across 5 lanes of traffic to avoid the checkpoint.
>>
Assuming you're driving within the bounds of the law, I feel that drivers should be free to travel our roads (at any time) without unwarranted harassment. Apparently this is quite the controversial statement.
>>
I've driven drunk a couple of times. Not absolutely hammered mind you, just tipsy after having one of those liter mugs of beer. Not pleasant, so I don't plan on doing it again. I got home, but only because I was about 10 minutes away. I wouldn't have trusted myself to go on the highway or anything, even though I was driving slower than normal. And besides, I did that when I owned my last car because I didn't care. I hated that car, and my life, so crashing it would have been a load off my back. With my current car, I try not to drive even if I'm more tired than usual.
>>

I have a couple friends that died to drunk drivers.
Anyone that drinks heavily and drives should assume they're about to murder someone, because it's only a matter of time before they do.
>>
>>14993982
Here in Ireland, a senator managed to get off on a drunk driving charge because it was unconstitutional (a long time ago, like in the 80's).
Reason being, there was a provision that said it was illegal to stop / checkpoint a senator who was travelling home from the senate - that dated back to the 1920's when the IRA were murdering deputies at checkpoints.
Mind you, irish politicos and drink driving do not go together. One of the TD's a few years ago tried to claim she wasn't drink driving because she had only had a few hot whiskeys "for her cold".

Manslaughter is the correct term. Negligence makes it sound like it isnt life-changing.

Also, all DUI check point locations are required to be posted ahead of time in local media (newspaper, etc). In California at least. They also always require a secondary street out as well.

Driving into one requires complete negligence.

In the communist wealth of Virginia they don't announce when it where they are having checkpoints and within the past year they have actually have been on back roads to which I think is upsurd. They have them in the middle of the day or it can be around 8 at night. They don't have to profile you if you drink beer that's 8.1%, you can brush your teeth, chew gum. They can smell that Shit no matter what

The best thing to drink while driving is this Finnish liquor called "minttu". The reason for this is its mint flavor. Even if you're shitty drunk your breath will smell minty fresh and the cop will have no idea. Even if you puke your car will smell like mint

The Henrico Gestapo and the Arrestafield SS always announce what days they're having checkpoints, just not where. I'm working in gas stations and quick stops from 6am until the afternoon and there are so many people stopping by for their morning 6-pack.

The one thing that does bug me a little is I see a lot of dudes driving larger straight trucks (garbage trucks, dudes for the electric company) stopping by on their lunch break and chugging a tall boy real quick right before they get back in their truck.

Can't really judge though because I get it with an alcoholic dad n stuff.

Alcoholism is real.

I don't ever drink and drive anymore it's just a horrible idea that gets out of control. You do it a few times tipsy and think oh that wasn't hard and then before you know it you wake up passed out in your car while it's running in a random field.
