I matched with this chick on tinder and basically you know how you can connect your Instagram to your tinder to show your recent pics or whatever? Right anyway one of her recent pics was a green 911 and it was at an odd angle. Anyway we started talking and I mention is that a 911 targa and ask if it belong to her. turns out it was a targa and she was impressed I knew my shit. Also her dad collects a shit ton of air cooled porsches.
Got her number and we plan on grabbing some food and drinks soon. about to finesse and marry into a wealthy family

>>14963021
SHIT! We forgot a navigation screen, anyone got an iPad we can place out of arms reach?
>>14963036
>I think shape and texture
in what universe that screen on the 911 looks appealing? it looks like a 90s stereo with all these buttons around it. And then the empty buttons below the gear shift for upgrades. I just don't like it, and materials matter too.
>>14963003
The 911 has pretty much always had a slightly understated interior (and exterior for that matter) because it's meant to be a car you can daily drive if you want to. And in the Old World even a nice daily driver doesn't have to be super flashy, it's perfectly fine if it's simply nice.
>>14963041
I think it's not a touchscreen though, you control it with that spaceship looking gadget in the center console because what rich person wants fingerprints all over their car screen?
>>14963041
while I agree, it is one of the best placed car iPad in production
>>14963056
True, but it won't hurt if they used better materials and made it more appealing yet simple.
>>14963049
consider how many functions it integrates then think about buttons again
>materials matter too
not when its a golden turd
>>14963065
I don't think you can judge the quality of the materials from a photo. Interior materials can look high quality and feel incredibly cheap and start rattling or wearing or fading far too soon, and then there are those that feel far nicer than they look and hold up perfectly to age.
arr rook same
would like a 964 though, second best interior ever 2bh.
>>14963076
I am not questioning their durability, I've been in one and they felt solid, but still doesn't look great. Are they functional? of course, but form matters too.
>>14963072
in its highest model it reaches the $200k region, it better be filled with damn nice material for that price. Don't forget it is not a cheap car.
>>14963003
Looks pretty dang good to me. Purposeful. And that steering wheel!
It's a luxury sports car, not a GT
>>14963041
I hate the look of the floating iPad on the dashboard German car makers use these days, but placing it level with the instrument cluster without raising the dashboard to shroud it is better for visibility while driving.

964 & earlier - Good examples are ridiculously overpriced.
993 - Last of the air cooled engines. A big step up in the chassis dynamics and handling from the 964.
996 - Ugly headlights, some engines known for IMS failures, but good value for the money.
997.1 - Essentially a 996.3. Fixed the headlights.
997.2 - Last of the mechanical-feeling 911s. Engines known for being bulletproof!
991.1 - Another big step up in chassis dynamics and handling, but lost some "character". A step towards being more a grand tourer than pure sports car.
991.2 - All models are turbo. New torque curve feels great. A Carrera S is equivalent to a supercar from just a few years ago.

oh wow. how is this even possible? how much does it weigh?
>>14960358
>>14976569
16 liters at 8000rpm is how. Not sure about the weight.
>>14976569
I'd say it'd be pretty heavy, maybe 500 kilo?
It makes that big power by burning fuel and air. It doesn't matter whether the air is drawn in by aspiration or forced in by supercharging, a net volume of typical composition air and a volume of fuel to combust stoichiometricially will result in an ideal output of heat and pressure. If you can fit a thousand killawasps worth of air and fuel safely under great pressure in a small displacement engine and burn it efficiently that's gravy. You can burn the same amount of combustibles safely in a large displacement engine efficiently and generate similar power but the delivery of this power will be vastly different based on how and when the thousand kW worth of combustibles got into the combustion chamber and how easily it got out of it.
The engine in the image has an extremely high flowing intlet tract, monstrous runners and valves and will be matched with a very large camshaft. Looks like Fueltech 1000 or 2000cc in the runner and not sure what's on the throttle bodies but it has the potential to back up that airflow with fuel. Inside will be an overbuilt rotating assembly and strengthening components making the engine withstand the forces of making 1200kW reliably and there you have it; one way to make big power.
It was only sixty years ago that the only way to make big 1200 killawasp engines were petrol large displacement blocks of thirty liters or thereabouts and supercharging with comparably poor service lives.
Many prefer the power delivery of large displacement naturally aspirating engines to smaller turbocharged or supercharged engines. Car wise myself I'm only small fry under 500kW and I tried the old blower-on-a-small-block chestnut which feels absolutely incredible to drive on the street, but a smaller displacement engine with a large turbocharger and housing has got to be my favourite now.
>>14976677
what's the inefficiency like? I expect larger mating surfaces = greater losses.
>>14976685
That's true, the surface area of the mating surfaces are larger but it's not very significant now for bore sizes like this. It will be very volumetrically efficient but probably not very thermally efficient. A smaller displacement engine with a turbocharger will be both more volumetrically efficient through use of supercharging and thermally by converting hot exhaust gasses to work than the naturally aspirated engine.
It will be very consistent and ideal for bracket racing.

That car has had a front end collision at some point. Look at the panel gap between the hood, fenders, and bumper. Either it's been in a wreck and fixed or they took the bumper and hood off and never put it back on right.
This one is mine.
