I paid about $40k for it brand new. It's incredibly comfy. I broke my back a few years ago and it's all fuckered up and this truck and my previous one which was essentially the same are the only vehicles I've owned that I can drive all day in and not be in pain for several days afterward. I drove it 32 straight hours a couple months ago without a problem.

How is getting in and out of it?

My major issue is that I have back and butt problems, so I'm looking for a comfy car. I'd prefer not to get a crossover, and I'd like something that's at least practical.

I was looking at a higher trim F-150, GMC Canyon, and GMC 1500.
>>
>>14967652
I have Amp Research power steps on it. they come down when the door opens then retract after its closed. with them it's really easy to get in and out of even with the lift and bigger tires.

I used to have a 2005 GMC Sierra 1500 farm truck and I had the same problem with that truck that I had with most vehicles, major soreness or pain after spending a few hours in it.

With such an absurd and purely fictional stereotype in place would it not make more sense for someone with a small dick to buy an econobox?

>he must have a small dick

>his car is nicer than mine
>he must have a small dick

>his house is bigger than mine
>he must have a small dick

>he drives instead of biking
>he must have a small dick

How far do you go with the logic? Are you honestly under the impression that people with lifted trucks think there's a direct correlation between the size of the truck and the size of their dick? It's just as absurd to think there's an inverse correlation. Both mindsets are absolutely retarded, where they differ is that one is a straw man.

I'm not sure what you're more obsessed with, dicks, or bashing people that have what you wish you had.

All right, faggot, if you want to play this game, we can play this game.
Name a truck that meets the following qualifications.
Less than 25 years old, weighs under 3000lbs, is under 16ft long, is manual, 4x4, and has a V8.
If you can't, then shut the ever-loving fuck up.
>>
>>14972957
>Less than 25 years old
As if that's hard to find...

>weighs under 3000lbs
The king cab you posted doesn't.

>is under 16ft long
The king cab you posted isn't.

>is manual
extremely common in 90s pickups.

>4x4
common in pickups in general.

>and has a V8
The majority of full size pickups.

I'm comparing the king cab you posted to small fullsize trucks. To negate that, you compare those fullsize trucks to a single cab and claim the specs of the single cab (which the king cab you posted does not meet) are required.

If those are your requirements in a truck, then the truck you posted does not meet them and I succeeded in convincing you not to buy it.

You are most welcome, sir.

The 1991 Hardbody I posted is 15' 10'' long and weighs just over 2900lbs stock, might have been pushed over 3000lbs by a bit with the aftermarket suspension and tires, but that's not the point. The only thing it doesn't have is a V8, which I didn't care about in the first place. The point I was trying to prove to this irritating cunt was that compact trucks don't have V8s, and trucks with V8s aren't compact. That much is only obvious. A compact truck would have no need for a V8; it's ridiculous.
>>
>>14973235

A truck thread really should be the last place where someone tries to attack another person's character based on their choice of vehicle considering "truck" and "micropenis" are synonymous.
>>
>>14973742
As that why you want a cute truck? You think everyone will think you have a micropenis if you buy a real truck?

If you're buying a cute truck to convince people you don't have a micropenis, it's probably because you do.

Stop caring what 4chan tells you other people think. 99.9% of people don't give two shits if you have a truck and don't think about dicks when they see one.

You going out of your way to avoid trucks you falsely assume might generate such thoughts says a lot about your insecurity.

But you didn't answer my question.
>>

I want a small truck because I want a small truck because I don't want a big truck. Is that so hard to understand? Do you have a matching microbrain to go with your micropenis, too?

"I want what I want because I want it" does not explain the reasoning or logic behind the desire at all. Rather it's usually said in an attempt to prevent the conversation from going any deeper so as to keep the real reasoning hidden. And then you come back with the classic ad hominem to kick the conversation into a different direction. One that lacks any facts or logic so you can't lose.

I'm only responding in kind. If you can dish it out, be prepared to take it in.
Maybe if I explain this to you as if you were 5 years old, you can understand it.
I want a truck because I want to be able to move stuff and people that won't fit in my car from place to place. Trucks are bigger than cars and you can fit more stuff in a bed than you can in a trunk, and they can even tow trailers, too!
I don't want a big truck because they're big and that makes them harder to drive around and park, they use lots of gas, cost more to buy and maintain, and most importantly, are designed to do tasks of a heavier duty than I need to be able to do.
You fucking idiot.
>>
>>14973969
>If you can dish it out, be prepared to take it in.
I'm applying logic. You may not NEED a larger truck but nor do you NEED for the truck to be that small. The same logic can be applied both ways, but only if you're making the decision based on logic rather than attempting to find logic to support a decision you've already made based on other hidden criteria you're choosing not to share.

What you're doing is purely childish namecalling.

Applied logic vs logical fallacy.
Just because you took offence to it does not make them the same thing.

>I want a truck because I want to be able to move stuff and people that won't fit in my car from place to place.
Which a slightly bigger truck would obviously do better, since you're citing the need for extra space as reasoning for wanting a truck.

>I don't want a big truck because they're big and that makes them harder to drive around and park
Did I suggest a CCLB? No, a RCLB or ECSB would probably be most beneficial to you. Both of which are very common configurations for 90s fullsize trucks.

This body style >>14963765 in particular is closer in overall size to a midsize truck than it is to nearly all other full size trucks. If that is too big for you to drive, then you're a terrible driver and would greatly benefit from the experience.

>they use lots of gas
Estimated fuel economy is identical between the 92 D21 King cab 3.0 4x4 5 speed and the 97 k1500 Extended cab 4.3 4x4 5 speed, and I've personally seen better economy than that even in the heavier and lower geared V8 3/4 tons.

>cost more to buy and maintain
Have you price checked this?

>and most importantly, are designed to do tasks of a heavier duty than I need to be able to do.
How is being more capable than you think you need a bad thing? The ability to tow 7,000 lbs instead of 3500 lbs does not make a truck any worse at towing 3500 lbs, in reality it would do a better job.

Impressive! Did you convert them to HID? Everything I read says they just do Halogen & LED stuff nowadays. My plan is for a pair of 100w HID long range spots, and some LED/HID flood or driving lights to fill in the more immediate area.

Also, you got 16 with a 350 and 4.10s? My previous burb had the same setup, 350, 4l80e, 4.10 rear end and I just got 11mpg...

>>14974236
>Did you convert them to HID? Everything I read says they just do Halogen & LED stuff nowadays.
Yep. They take H3c HIDs. I haven't found any 75w or 100w that will fit since the 520s are so shallow.

As far as power vs light halogens just can't compete and LEDs fuck with light distribution due to the technology's inherent incompatibility with arc/filament based optics.

I've got the 54" light bar for flood lighting and I'm planning on Hella 4000s with 100w HIDs for the roof.

Agreed on HID>LED/Halogen. The only advantage LED has is price. Either way, the old Hella Halogens must go. I was thinking Hella 4000s too, but there was a place out of Australia claiming they could project light significantly farther using the same wattage. Stupid me lost their link tho :-\

>454 gas mileage with a 350.
I know right? All of the bad, none of the good. When my commute distance tripled, coupled with me shearing a rear axle, I figured it was time to part ways with her.
>>14974270
Thats what I was thinking of. There are supposedly aftermarket overhead consoles that run across the length of the front, and can be used for shelving, storage, etc. I want to look into those for more space for switches/guages. I have the same overhead you have pictured, but the upfitter cut out the storage bays and replaced them with pic related.

I'd probably take out one of the storage bays and put in a switch panel. It would be pretty cool to have a row of those jet fighter switches with the red cover on them up there. Does the roof have to be cut or drilled or just the headliner to make it fit?

That's fuggin nice. I'm going out to a GMC/Chebby dealership tomorrow and trying out a few of their options. But I'll definety take a look at every brand out there.

>>
>>14980717
Is that your anon? Man I love little pick ups like that. How do you like it?
>>
>>14981026
Yes it is mine. I want to sell it for about 3000 bucks and get me a crown vic. I love this truck a lot but I need something more powerful and with more room. These truck will last you a long time and will get the job done as long as you don't ask too much of it. The front suspension is NOT independent so the ride is a bit rough. you can feel every bump on the road. But the truck is still very comfortable to ride in. My legs don't get tired. Gas mileage could be better for an inline 4 but its an early 2000s chevy so low gas mileage is expected. The bodies like to rust though. Mine has 86,000 miles on it and rust it just starting to form.
>>
>>14980985
GMC or Chevy c/k 1500. Solid truck, easy to work on, parts are easy to find new and in scrap yards. Truck itself usually isn't too expensive. Come in loads of configurations. Regular, Extended cab, long, short, or stepside box, 4.3 V6, 5.3 V8, 5.7 V8, 6.5 Diesel. Tahoes, suburbans and yukons are built on the same platform if you want to look at suv's. These trucks are really comfy inside too.

I know this is sort of a biased thread to ask this in... but I'm really debating between getting a super comfy truck and a Mercedes GLK 350.

The GLK is cheaper than most trucks I'm looking at, and comes with a BlueTEC diesel. It also rides softer than most trucks I've been in. But there's something alluring about trucks in general. I was mainly looking at something midsized like a Toyota Tacoma or GMC Canyon, and they both ride extremely well, but I've heard people say that FS trucks ride even better.

But gas mileage is a legitimate concern for me as well, as is trying to get in and out. I ruled out buying a sedan because I had difficulties getting in and out, but some FS trucks have that problem as well.

If I got a truck, what are some of your recommendations? I'd prefer it to be new/low mileage used/under extended warranty plans.

Almost forgot, They came with a manual if that's something you want. Pic related is mine. 1994 Extended cab long box 4x4 automatic. 22 years old and the only mechanical work it needed was a manifold and shocks. Other then that it's just rust along the bottom edge which is expected on an old truck in Canada. It's a real solid truck.
>>
>>14981344
Make sure you buy something that will last you.
>>
>>14981404
I've gone through consumer reports, high mileage ownership reports, etc and either way I'll be getting a long-lasting solid vehicle. The Mercedes will be slightly more expensive, but not by too much. If I maintain the vehicle properly, I wouldn't doubt I could get to 500k miles with the GLK easily.

But aftermarket is extremely limited, and trucks in general seem to last forever.

Insurance isn't too bad at all and for my particular insurer it would be cheaper to get a GLK than a full-sized truck. It'd be cheaper to get a midsized truck over either of them however.

Well then I say buy what you want. I am not too educated on newer cars. I would take what makes you the most happy. I would personally get a midsized.

Any pics? "Great work or offroad truck" sounds to me like it's in rough shape. With these trucks body rust isn't that big a problem as long as the frame is solid, but that may also mean the engine is in rough shape. Mine's a '94 and I love it. If the odometer is in kilometers than thats kinda close to what mine had when I got it and she still goes strong.

It's definitely worth looking at. $2250us seems a little steep for a '94 unless it needs no work at all, but I don't really know what they go for in your area. When you're looking check to see if the third brake light is working. 1994 was the first year a third brake light was required on trucks and both mine and my buddy's dad's '94 had issues with them.

Anyone here familiar with 4L60e's? Whenever the torque converter goes into lockup, my RPMs sink like a rock and no matter how much gas I give the cunt I can't get it above about 1700 and you can hear how badly the engine is struggling by the deep exhaust note. However if I lightly tap the brake enough to engage the brake switch which unlocks the torque converter, my engine shoots up to 2500+ rpm and suddenly runs like a dream. Do deals and incentives/rebates vary by dealership/region?
Do holidays help with getting deals?
Should i buy a Pre-Owned model or buy a New model?

Im somewhat set on buying a new Ford F150 (5.0) CrewCab 4x4 with the 6 1/2' bed in Red.

Is there a reason the Chevy 6.5s are largely considered to be dogshit? I don't know much about deisels in general.
>>
>>14989088
They were designed as light duty simple economic workhorses rather than medium duty torque monsters like the diesels they were competing with. That said, stock for stock they somehow managed to lead the pack in power for a while but admittedly the competition did have more potential once you got into the aftermarket.

That and the 94+ had PMD issues which ruined the reputation for reliability, compounded with the military abusing them in the HMMWV.

If you can deal with stock power made by a mechanically injected 6.5 they're not bad.

Not even sure why people use the bed for anything bigger than a dirt bike. Its a hell of a lot of fighting gravity.

I bought the truck after ordering opened up for the 2015 models and they were hurting to get rid of the 2014s. I had a long list of options it had to have and this one checked all of the boxes so I drove 4 hours to see it and nagged them for about 7 hours before they finally gave me the price I wanted.

I like the wheels and think the cap looks good too, but thanks anyway.
>>
>>14996131
This gives me an idea.

I'm looking to buy my first truck. Should I wait for the 2017 model year to be released, or should I just buy one now and haggle it down? I already planned to buy an unsold 2015 model.
>>
>>14985060
actually I'm pretty fond of the mirrors I have on it, they actually cover most of my blindspots. I actually did get a non-broken grill from the local pick-n-pull... and promptly backed over it the next day. Oopsies.

I don't know that you'd be able to get the same leverage I had if it's still the same model. for me, 2014 was the last year of this body style and 2015 was completely redesigned so they didn't want the obviously older truck sitting on the lot when the new ones came in.

6.5 owner here.
The 6.5 is considered dogshit mainly for its unreliability. The injection pump has three or four expensive computer modules that are very finicky and prone to failure. One of them in particular, the PMD or driver control module is especially troublesome...

Also, they aren't as much as a powerhouse as their Powerstroke/Cummins competitors of the era, nor can you get as much power out of them as you can with the competition. But that wasn,t really what the motor was designed to do. It was designed more for economy back in the days before the "Tow/Torque wars" we see from diesel ads nowadays.

Can't speak for the Chebys, but as an Ausfaggot that's driven a fair few of the midsize pickups as jobsite LVs, the Isuzu D-Max on which it's based would be my pick if it was my own money. I like the lazier truck like Isuzu 3.0 diesel for the kind of shit we use it for.
Haven't driven a Holden Colorado equivalent (which uses the same 2.8 Duramax as the Cheb/GMC), but the power and torque figures look impressive.
>>
>>15002101
They are pretty legit. Only con is they are a bit pricy. A family member works on the assembly line making them.
>>
>>15002132
Agreed. 40k for a mid size pickup with options is a little ridiculous
>>
>>15002140
>>15002132
For the price, would it be better to get a Canyon or look at a Silverado or F-150? Size is a huge concern, living in downtown Seattle. But I'm a private contractor and need something with the towing capability and bed space.
>>
>>15002153
If your a contractor id go with a tradesman half ton silverado. No bells and whistles and it'll haul better than a colorado
>>
>>15002166
The thing is I need to haul long distances as well. Having bells and whistles would be a nice bonus, but getting a bone-stock Silverado would be cheaper in the long run.
>>
>>15002175
Maybe a fully loaded half ton with some miles on it would be better? Either way, if you're a contractor I woudlnt bother with the Colorado or canyon
>>
>>15002132

I started working around semi trucks.
I wanted a bike really bad but I started staring into the rear wheels of a fully loaded 26k lb tractor trailer going 75mph with a caffeinated overworked trucker behind the wheel and reconsidered.
Now I drive a Silverado and it's comfy as fuck.

the power steering fluid was black coming out of it too, the pump ended up blwoing the seals too
to date its gotten
re painted bed and doors, re sealed light fixtures, new cab lights, new headlights, new calipers, pads, flex lines, master cylinder, new canopy pistons, new PS pump and lines, new AC lines, new radiator, stat and flush, new alternator, new exhaust and junked the cat and smog systems.
its been a lot of fun to have a rig i can actually wrench on without a computer

here it is after breaking the lift at the local autoshop while getting the transmission fluid changed
