Hey /o/, I need some serious advice on towing an airplane. Yes, I'm serious. I just bought a small jet trainer that's going to be my next project. The good news is that the wings are already off and it's ready to be loaded onto a trailer. The bad news is I don't have a trailer long enough to load it on.
The plane weighs about 4000lbs without the wings, and about 20 feet of the plane just touches the ground as shown in pic related. But all I have is a 18 feet car towing trailer. Another problem is that I'm not sure if I should risk my SUV towing it, it's a 2001 Mercury Mountaineer v8 AWD that's rated to tow 7500lbs.
Think it's worth the risk of towing it myself, or should I just spurge and hire someone to ship it back for me? The problem with that is that they're charging up to $10,000, which is even more than I paid for the plane. What should I do?

Bread in cockpit or gtfo.
Put it on the trailer and tow it yourself you'll be fine

Do you mind me asking how much this aircraft cost?
What model is it as well?
Very cool if true btw.
Can you hire the appropriate trailer?

>Do you mind me asking how much this aircraft cost?
If you have to ask you can't afford it kiddo.
So are you helping me or not? I am a busy guy and I don't have time to deal with you so....

>If you have to ask you can't afford it lololol
>not willing to pay 10k to ship it
Try to rent the appropriate trailer. Does your car have trailer brake controls?
>>14904153
It's a polish Iskra TS11 like pic related, it's cheap because it's completely apart and hasn't been run in years. I bought it because I've always wanted a jet plane even if it's just a trainer, now the problem is getting it back home.

Yes it does, my 18 feet trailer also has brakes. The problem is if I load the plane on there, two feet of the jet engine's exhaust will still be sticking out.

That's not me. Fuck, gotta use a tripcode. I can afford it, but $10k is still a lot of money.

Behind the trailer? That's fine, just put some red tape on it
You should know that truck only maxes out at 6600 tho

more than you can afford pal.. pegasus.
imagine all the small components that are missing or broke in that plane. Just like when you buy a boat, it's not the cost of the boat that kills you, it's the engine. It pains me to think about what you are going to have to find, ship, scavenge, fix and pay for to get that engine working and the plane air worthy. You should have found a lightly abused L-39 trainer.

>If you ever wanted something, but felt the need to have information about the prince, you can't afford it, cunt.
>Merica, where you can buy a jet plane just because

If the wings are removable, or partially removable it shouldn't be -too- bad. If not, that's going to be too wide for most public roads and probably require a wide-load permit/escort

The canopy upside down like that, scratching the plexi just russtles my jimmies...

>re-read post about wings being off already

I'm sure the rebels burned them before they left

It's a project. OP either knows what he's getting into, or is going to discover that over the next few years.
