This would be fun for my short work commute (for which I currently use a bicycle), but there's really no justification. Living in SoCal, you really don't need the fairings.

But more importantly, the issue with something like this is that there's nowhere to leave it. You can't park it in a lot, because it's presumably light enough to be picked up and loaded into a pickup (or just ridden away). However, it looks too bulky to park at a bike rack.

On a planet where you live in town, have nowhere to park and don't want to go on a regular bike because it rains half the year.
So basically, in Sweden, Denmark or some places in Germany.
That said this thing is probably going to struggle when going up a hill.
One of these cab scooters would o the same job except better and wouldn't make everyone laugh.

this is pretty good. its basically a electric bike on 4 wheels and a proper, decent looking cover.

there are two wheel bikes, there are trikes, and quads, but this is the first solid fully covered one ive seen so far.

Remember pic related? a fucking washing machine motor drove one wheel of a regular car battery. it was a failure.

Velomobiles actually have a great promise. That is only because bicycles and motorcycles are so shit however.

I recently noticed this aftergoing back to riding my bicycle after spending some time on a scooter. When you go up to like 20mph on a bicycle you can FEEL the air resistance slowing you down massively as you have to provide all the movement power with your own two legs. A velomobile with a proper covering and underbody that cuts down on wind resistance could let some average dude just cranking the wheels with his legs go up to 35-40mph without any assistance motors. It wouldn't be more work-intense than riding a bicycle normally, simply beause you cut down on so much air resistance. A dude on a bicycle has massive air resistance. if you then would add some minor batteries and motors you could be pushing 50 to 60 with seemingly just your legs.
>>
>>14900847
yes but what happens if you crash?
>>
>>14900854
The same that always happens when you crash on a bicycle or motorcycle. You almost assuredly die. Now you can do it at higher speeds, but it's not like that changes anything.
>>
>>14900847
I really liked that Zeppelin bicycle car. But as I said, it needs to be finished.

>>14900854
You die like a man.
>>
>>14900856
Future is coming. Maybe someday there will be affordable carbon rollcages for safety.
>>
>>14900860
Why carbon? You only really need steel or alu. Weight isn't the problem here, you can recuperate momentum based forces with electric motors and brake recuperation. Weight affects accelleration and decelleration. Air drag limits speed. A velomobil built of steel (maybe even with a steel rollcage) will almost assuredly be faster than any carbon supersport bicycle.
>>
>>14900862
Because it's the best I could think of.
>>
>>14900868
Well now you know
And knowing is half the memes!
>>
>>14894492
Why would you even compare those two cars? People aren't gonna cross shop them.
>>
>>14900873
It's just that carbon is the future. It's relatively cheap compared to 90's. Stuff evolves, machines and robots are manufacturing it.. Soon you will be able to print that stuff.
>>
>>14900847
>>14900857
I just had an idea
>hybrid velomobil
>that is, human muscle/electric hybrid
>when you stop at a red light you can keep cranking the pedals although you don't move
>what you actually do is charge up the batteries so that when the light turns green you can engage the electric motors and ride away supersanic
I can see energy efficiency issues though. Oh well. If you had something like this pushing 60mph on your commute you sure as fuck wouldn't need to go to the gym anymore
>/fit/fags turning into even more of a T-Rex than before

>>14900885
Titanium's coming bigtime. I forgot which it was but either a certain patent about a certain kind of hyper-effective titanium production is about to run out and become free market or they just recently discovered a new one that will make it dirt cheap to have everywhere.

But I'm not going.
Those batteries sure would increase weight. It would be expensive and masses of lazy people wouldn't be interested in it.
>>
>>14900907
And? Smarter motor steering. Give more assistance at the acceleration to overcome inertia. You wouldn't even notice it. These kinds of smarter electromechanical systems ears their investment "costs", be they weight or money, back in short order.

On a bicycle, you go flying/skidding, but you can evade it. In a velocar, you're pretty much stuck with either braking, or accepting the squashing from a real vehicle.

>>14900860

WEIGHT!

My major issue with recumbent bikes is the lack of ability to escape. So much tubing everywhere, just waiting to snag you and trap you.
At least on an upright bike, I can see over most cars, or at least through, and avoid danger.
