Anyone on here with a high mileage Mercedes-Benz? Walked past a W211 today with the 250,000km and 500,000km badges on the grill.

Pic related.
>>
No, but if they're giving out awards for people that can make it to those high miles, it's probably not a good sign of their craftsmanship.
>>
>>14883660
imagine if honda sent these out

they would be fucking everywhere
>>
>>14883668
imagine if toyota gave a badge to each corrola past 155342.798 Miles
>>
>>14883556
i have a camry with almost 500k km if that counts
>>
>>14883556
What do you get for it? A free oil change at least? Maybe a slighty more intensive checkup on what parts are most likely to give out soon?
>>
>>14883704
you get a badge and a piece of paper
>>
You get the metal badge to put on the car's grill, certificate signed by someone from Mercedes-Benz classic department, and the vehicle get put into their database for records. The mileage must be verified by MB before you get the awards.

Hey OP I currently have a w211. Its not high mileage (58k miles) its an 2003 so its before the facelift.

Ask me anything! will post pics.
>>
>>14883726
That's fucking gay.
>>
>>14883754
How quiet is the cabin when driving higher speeds? (130kph+) I've been thinking about buying a W211 wagon later this year.

You get a free Honda if you drive it 1,000,000 miles
>>
>>14883765
Its not wisper quiet but its not loud either. Its definately way better than both passats i've owned and my parent's X1 that i've driven once when I visited.

It definately takes away a good 70% of all outside noise once inside. Everyone compliments me on how smooth it drives and how comfortable the seats are. I love it. But be wary as a lot of these on sale were mistreated. I got mine of some rich guy who barely drove it and decided it was time to let it go for 7.5k.
>>
>>14883754
>not an e55
lmfao worthless junk
i hope your airmatic goes out
>>
>>14883798
are those benches comfortable anon?
>>
>>14883763
What did you expect? Pretty much any car can reach 155k miles. If these badges were a thing in yurop every second taxi would have one.
>>
>>14883797
Thanks for the info, I will for sure look for a car with full maintenance records. (As you always should.)
>>
>>14883813
It's something to consider for a car manufacturer. If someone manages to keep these things running for whatever crazy long time frame I'd want to get the engines that went through all of that in my lab to analyze and check where the most IRL wear and tear happened so that can be patched up again.

>Special offer: drive our cars to half a million miles and we'll take it from you with 10k trade-in value for a new car from our range!

You get something like this
>>
>>14883556
Considering W211's are widely used as taxis, 500k doesn't seem that much tbqh
>>
>>14883843
>Special offer: drive our cars to half a million miles and we'll take it from you with 10k trade-in value for a new car from our range!

The funny thing is that this is the complete opposite of a lot of deals. Car companies are always offering incentives if you switch from a low-mileage car from another automaker. There isn't shit for loyal brand customers. It's all about trying to steal customers from the other brands.
>>
My dad's old W201 recently broke 400000km.
Never had anything major done to it that I know of.
>>
>>14883971
Its because for a lot of people if they like their car they'll stick with that brand for life

Except that the tradition of awarding those badges dates back to the '60s when high mileage was a completely different beast and most American odometers still had FIVE digits.

What's it like owning a low mileage car, /o/? I imagine lots of dealership visits for inane bullshit you could have fixed yourself in a short enough period of time to make it more efficient in time and effort to just do it yourself.
>>
>>14888602
I have a second owner 85,000 km Toyota and for all I know it's never been in the shop for anything other than recalls. Everything else were just wear and tear items like tires, wiper blades and a battery. I do have a feeling it's rattling more and more over time though, but that might just be degration paranoia.
>>
>>14888581
Not in my ownership atleast, but its in good shape with no rust in important parts as I've cleaned and proofed all the canals, engine mounts, around the battery in the trunk and such
>>
>>14888532
Now that's worthy of an award!!

Kilometerstand
>>
They would go bankrupt because every taxi driver with a merc will definitely push it passed 250,000 km even if it wasn't supposed to.
>>
>>14889089
>what is Germany
Nigger, taxi drivers exclusively buy two cars here: Mercedes E-Class or 'yota Prius. If you buy a Merc, buy an E-Class. Benz can't afford to build those badly because they're on 24/7 irate taxi driver benchmark forever.
>>
>>14889138
Not really, to be quite honest. I spoke to a taxi driver here, they have had some problems with E-Classes...

Oh, and the really cost effective cab drivers without taxi rights mostly drive VW Caddy.
