These 2011-2014 Mustang V6s would be a great DD. 300 hp, 30 MPG, safety features that incorporate an exploding driveshaft to keep you from going over 116 mph (Ford engineers think of everything)

2011-2014 5th gens were almost perfect in my opinion.

all they were missing is the interior of the sixth gen mustang which i really like otherwise the exterior was one of the best in my opinion.

5th gen boss 302 is the best stang for me.

Truth. I had my heart set on a new 2015 or 2016, but side by side I just like the old gen better overall. Im looking to buy a 2011-2014 gt this summer and love it like a child.

New Edge (99-04) was perfection. It went downhill from there (05-09), then slightly uphill (10-14), and now 15+ is just trying too hard to look aggressive like all new cars.

03 cobra was my favorite but 15+ is my 2nd favorite. I think it looks modern without going way the fuck overboard like the C7.

Aw dang, that car, in that color, was one of my highest dream cars when I was a kid.

I know the headlamp design on the new Mustang is supposed to take design elements from the original, but I feel like it kinda homages this. Probably a coincidence.
>>
>>14871591
>Probably a coincidence.
I dunno, man. I don't see any resemblance whatsoever between the 6th gen and the originals, despite all the advertising about the GENERATIONS OF MUSTANGS completely skipping most everything in between.

The 5th gen was obviously based on the first gens (At least at first) with the quad lights and the flat hood, which was lost over the generation as the lights became separate little things and the hood got higher in the middle. I'd say the 6th is way closer to the New Edge stangs than anyone is willing to admit.

The real question is, modern Foxbody when?

To each his or her own, anon.

I do like the back end of that generation of Mustangs tho.

Ironically, the concept stang 15 years ago looked better, in my opinion, than the one you posted. And it's also ironic that the generation of Stangs that came out since 2010 look a great deal like them.

I dunno, I bought a 2000 Mustang GT due to the desire to owning one (wanted one since 1980, when my mother had a rare green Cobra).

That "New Edge" styling really spoke to me. I wasn't too thrilled with the rounded curves of the previous generation of stangs that replaced the same Fox body boxiness that dominated the 1980's and early 90's.

Pic somewhat related, again, my mother's car was green and not black.

Retro-modern design is cancer.

>>
>>14872215

Why?

Those cars were built for track racing, not street racing. And since they are rare, why screw up the value of the vehicle by adding a supercharger?

I mean you can do that if you want, but those cars are instant classics.

It has to be more than the stock 2000 GT I purchased. Before the x-pipes, computer chips, underdrive pulleys, port n polished valves etc etc and other shit I did to it that improved the hp greatly....

>>
>>14873760
The 2v 4.6 is a dog, all the stuff you've listed doesn't do that much. You need boost if you actually want to be fast.
>>
>>14873888

Yes, but 300 hp was better than the stock shitty 260 hp.....

Also didn't mention I got 3:4:3 rear differentials. Which makes a big difference as you know.

>>
>>14873908
True. Why those gears instead of a 3.73 or more aggressive? Those gears are still a bit long if you aren't gonna boost it.
>>
>>14870873
They looked like shit. The 6th gen is the best looking mustang E V E R
>>
>>14873939

My bad, I'm not awake I meant to say 3:7:3 gears.

Eventually got rid of it, thanks to incompetent mechanics at my local Ford Dealership.
>>
>>14873383
Submitting your resume to the dealer car wash department doesn't count as an interview
>>
>>14873946
The stock gears that the GT came with back then were so stupidly long it was hilarious. The Cobra and Mach 1 at least came with 3.55's but that still a bit too long of a gear to really get the 4v motor going. All fun cars though.
>>
>>14873946
It's 3.73, 3:7:3 means 3 to 7 then back to 3 reduction. 3.73:1 means 3.73 turns of the engine to one turn one the differential
>>
>>14874010

That's because Ford, imo, didn't want to fuck with the live rear axle thing because of "Murican straight line racing hurritage"

Coincidentally, before I sold it off to get a GM shitbox SUV (due to my wife giving birth to our first child) I was looking HARD at getting a 2001 Lightning.

I should have bought one.

>(smacks self in the face)
>>

>>
>>14874028
Well ford did put the IRS in the 99, 2001, 2003 and 2004 Cobras but it flopped pretty hard. Lots of owners got rid of the IRS for the solid axle. Wheel hop sucks.
>>
>>14873908
>3:4:3 rear differentials
>>
>>14874072

Owning it was a pain, considering everything from the wiring (there was a small fire a year later after we got it) and stuff that simply fell off both inside and out. And we took meticulous care of our vehicle.

>mpgs?

15/19...I'd say we got slightly worse on that Tahoe, probably 13/15 mpg.
>>
>>14874087
Hmm. Good to know. I was thinking of getting one but I'll stick to my original plan of a first gen s10 blazer
>>

I know better but it's too early. And I'm recovering from being sick.

I thought the new edge Mustang was an improvement over the jellybean sn95, but it's still pretty bland.

The 05-09's still my favorite. It has that "1968 Mustang as Hotwheels car" look like a concept.

Oddly, my first girlfriend, who had no particular interest or knowledge of cars, could easily say the fox body was the ugliest car she could think of. Never figured out where that came from.
>>
>>14873464

I like the look of the concept too.

>>14873703

I disagree.
>>
>>14874125
I think a lot of non car people would cite the fox body as being ugly. It just looks plain and boxy, many people wouldn't assume that it's a great platform to go fast. Also tons of them are abused and beat to shit so they look terrible.
>>
>>14874108

I wholeheartedly agree with you. Of course I was referring to the K5 Blazers; I should have mentioned that earlier.

>>
>>14874135

But I'm not a fan of the S-10 Blazers at all.
>>
>>14874152

Well those are nice too.

But they were replaced by smaller SUV's to satisfy the feminine cucks who wanted to please their dominate alpha wives in the 1990's....
>>
>>14874145
>http://westernmass.craigslist.org/cto/5539771932.html

Seems like a great price, and an average amount of miles for its age. Definitely daily driven. If it's a one-owner car with maintenance records, I would do it.
