Because BMWs can actually look decent, the production WRX is boring as shit. Not to mention the BMWs interior would be echelons above the Subaru's.

I own an 02 Legacy, so if anything I'd be leaning towards the WRX.

We can argue semantics about 0-60 times, AWD, etc. I do believe BMW is superior in many ways, and the STI will have it beat in the snow/mud.

It depends what you want. If you're a car enthusiast, you don't want to deal with the type of people that buy STIs in general. Bunch of Asian Honda/ricerfags. BMW believe it or not, does attract a classier clientele. For $25k, I'd personally buy a 335xi or 335i (e90 or e92) for about 20-22k, and put the rest into mods. For $4-5k in mods, you can get it up to 450 WHP. Interior is debatably nicer, and I have driven both and can firmly say the BMW transmissions, both manual and DCT, are far superior.

Subaru's interiors are just god awful. That alone should be enough reason to not buy one. Then again unless you are looking at used BMWs you don't have enough money to afford a decent new one.

Yeah if you want to top out at $25k, I'd put that all into a newer (2011-2013) 335i, you should get one with under 30k miles. Save up for the mods. Stock, it will keep with an STI. Modded, they are damn quick. Very upgradable cars with stock turbos.

An STI starts at 35k new, which kinda puts OP into a real rut BMW wise new. This does squarely put him in e90/2/3 M3 range which is just worlds better than a Subaru could ever dream of being.

At 35k he'd be into the e92 M3 range, but buying an M3 with 100k+ on it presents a few problems. E92s for under 25k are typically salvage or 120k+ '08s. I firmly believe he's going to have a better experience going 335i. If he wants to fork out 35k, a low mile e92 M3 would absolutely be his best bet.

They are large, comparatively. Even looking at the F82, they got like 6 inches wider again. I think smaller will catch on in 5-15 years in the high end cars. Porsches are even turning into land yachts. Kinda sad. I looked at the Z4M, I don't like the aesthetics, personally. It looks kind of girly IMO, but they are fantastic to drive. Yeah it's a fun car. It's around 3.3 0-60. Next up is down pipes/catback, wheels, and then Awron gauge.

kek I went with the roadster too but that is because summer car is best car. I really hope smaller cars catch back on the inflation of the 3 series every new model drives me insane. Very thankful for the 1/2 series, just with the M2 had a bit more power, but a Dinan kit should make quick work of that.

I don't hate the Z4M by any means, and I actually strongly considered it. But I think you know what I mean.

The 1/2 series will likely keep getting bigger. They were supposed to be essentially an updated e46 in terms of power and driving dynamics. I believe the M2 with some pricey mods can be a damn good car. Upgrade turbos, ECU flash, downpipes, intake and pulleys, I bet they'll be up to 600-700hp in the next 2-3 years. I think they look like squished M4s, or mini-M4s in kind of a bad way. I wish they went in a more "unique" direction with it. But I'm probably in the minority there.

IMO the only good looking generation of STi is the first one that we didn't get here. It pulls the same 0-60 times and is a lot more tuneable. Fucking thing is in the top 80 for the hamburger ring, not bad for a sub 10k car imported. But yeah, girls will be anti-impressed with it, more than likely. It's unfortunate but true. What do you people mean by reliability? How often would something break down? Are you counting in the difficulty of replacing broken parts (how easy the car is to work on, can it be done at home), the price and reliability of replacement parts?

I don't know much about neither brands, but I'd like to own an impreza or a beamer sometime in the forseeable future and as far as I've heard, BMWs are more complicated, harder to work on and at least some of the parts cost a fortune.
