Any 7th Gen owners on here? While I know they aren't fast, that doesn't stop me from absolutely loving mine. The looks (imo), the sound (Invidia N1), the handling, to me it's perfect. And if I had all the money, I wouldn't even buy a rwd or awd car, I'd buy two more Celicas and spend god awful amounts converting them.

Anyway, seems it's still a pretty striking car though, because just about any intersection I'm at, people break their necks checking it out going past.

Pic is my 04 GTS at the dealer before I bought it, I bought it just before winter hit and haven't taken any good pics of it yet.

I've owned one for 8 years.

It's held up like a tank for being a 15 year old car with 200k miles.
>>
Shoulda get a toyota corolla xrs. The most powerful corolla ever build.

354HP stock, 765HP when turbo.
AWD.
0-60 in under 3.5 sec.
>>
>>14863398
I had crap luck with my first one, it was a GT I bought 3 years ago, and spun a bearing 3 months in. And then some idiot couldn't control his FWD car in a straight line in snow and tboned it on the highway last year. Otherwise no big problems.
>>
>>14863627
>it was a GT I bought 3 years ago, and spun a bearing 3 months in.

did it burn oil?
>>
>>14863651
Not really sure, that car started getting me to care about taking care of them, so I don't remember if it even had more than one oil change at that point, and the stealer ship didn't say anything of course

Pic related was my 03 GTS, was pretty nice but the engine blew @ only 136k miles.
>>
Don't own one, but I plan to down the road.
Had a go in a mates ZR the other day, thing is on rails, doesn't even feel FWD, plus it was surprisingly comfy with its stiffer springs on bumpy roads.

Loved em for years, they look like sex.
Ignore the haters and enjoy it.
>>
>>14863118
> people break their necks checking it out going past.

maybe in 2005 when everyone hadn't seen one before they would, but everyone has seen dozens of these now and they're just another ricey looking mid 2000s coupe.
>>

>>14863627
Wait, so toyota reliability and durability are just memes?
>>
>worse than a rsx in every way possible
this is toyota's version of the 3rd gen eclipse, where they took all the performance out of a iconic name and dragged it down into the mud never to be relevant ever again.
>>
>>14865612
I shit you not, sitting at most intersections that aren't busy as hell, 70% of cars going through are checking it out.

>>14865619
I can't speak to all their engines, but as I understand it, they started having issues when they made the 1zz and 2zz, the former burning oil and spinning bearings, while the latter had oil starvation on hard cornering usually with sticky tires. And of course it all comes down to how well it was taken care of.

>>14865798
Shoot I know the rsx is great, but it just doesn't check all the same boxes the same way for me. Ive never driven an rsx-s, but in every comparison I've ever come across, their actual road performance is pretty similar, or close enough that you can't go wrong choosing either. Both are a blast to drive, and are worlds better than owning some random 4cyl grocery getter.

>>14865598
You won't regret it. I had a Fiesta ST for a short while, and while it was definitely a better overall car performance wise, as soon as I found a good Celica again after losing the first, I never looked back. The Celica just looks perfect to me with the TRD kit, and I can't overstate how great the Invidia sounds on it.

Actual performance doesn't bother me, as long as it's fun, and I like how it looks.

Both of those are true for me in this case.

Personally I prefer the post facelift standard kit.
>>
>>14866071
I don't know much about the facelift, but that's the TRD wing and sideskirts, did they add those onto the facelift models?
>>
>>14866101
Facelift is post 2003, just details in the interior like 'celica' branding and the front end difference, as far as I'm aware.

Then there's the TRD stuff you mentioned on top aswell.

'03 Celica GT, I am a scandicuck so theres almost no GTS models around due to high taxes on performance cars, this was the only facelift I was able to find in the country. It uses about 1 litre of oil every 4 gastanks but I still like it.

Yeah l bought mine last summer. l've wanted one ever since from my teens. lt's a 2001 T-Sport (European designation for GT-S).

Haven't done anything on it yet but l think l will hold on to it for very very long seeing as how l always dreamt of owning one. lt's also my second car just two years into car ownership so l'm really happy to have it this soon.

l don't have any concrete ideas but l'm considering painting it red or pitch black one day and maybe installing some really modest kit. lt might be fun to crack 200HP with some exhaust and ECU upgrade to wake it up.
>>
>>14867658

got any pics of the wheels?
>>
Planning to get one as my first car. There are a few GT listings on my local Craigslist. Should I get the GT or wait for a GTS to pop up?
>>
>>14867869
l have the factory 16" wheels.

>>14868020
lf you just can, get the GT-S. Less oil consumption and liiiiiift!

l think they should only have sold these with the 2zz-GE engine
>>
I just bought one of these in the beginning of January. GT model.
As I said before, yes it does burn oil. Im using a quart every 800 miles or so. This is the common piston ring problem, but I suspect the PO didnt take good care of it either. Regardless, mine had 101k miles on it, and was a good price so I didnt complain.
The handling and feel of the car is great though. Corners pretty damn well and rides nice even on the stiff as fuck suspension. Seats feel bretty gud too.
Only complaint would be while it is peppy once you hit ~3.5k rpms, its pretty gutless under that. It could use some more power. And apparently the GT-S isnt much better.
>>
>>14868681
That is accurate about the GTS, it lives in the high rpms, and power band. Or so I'm finding, but it sounds so great, I love taking it there.

OP's as it sits.
>>
>>14869835
The GT sounds nice as hell in the high RPMs too.
Take out the butterfly valve in the air box and it sounds even better, plus it's less restrictive.
Overall a very fun car.
>>
>>14866034
>Both are a blast to drive, and are worlds better than owning some random 4cyl grocery getter.
>some random 4cyl grocery getter

You mean like a celica?
>>
>>14870371

nice headlights
>>
>>14871397
For sure, I had the same setup on my GT that I currently do on my GTS, butterfly valve removed and invidia exhaust. I love the setup on both cars, and I think the GT sounds a fair bit meaner through the Rev range, but it can't beat the sound of lift.

>>14871766
Hey thanks : ). Projector HIDs are the way to go.
>>
I had a GTS when I was in high school. It was a fun car for being FWD and slow. Now I drive a 5.0 mustang so get fucked FWD cucks.
>>
>>14873823

the headlights are based as fuck, I live in a opressed socialist state so im not allowed to use aftermarket headlights on my car.
>>
>>14875251
Actually if memory serves, the HIDs are a factory option, probably common on the TRD Celicas, haven't seen any stock bodied Celicas with them before.
>>
>>14875312
>>14875251
But I suppose it doesn't matter at that point cuz you own the car, and adding a factory optioned set is still aftermarket.
>>
>>14863118
I really really wish I had bought a celica. They are perfect cars for Robots.
>Low key
>Very nice on gas
>Just enough room for you
>Sporty enough for fun but not sporty enough for heavy ass taxes and bad mpg.

Did auto correct strike again? Cuz everything else you said was good praise.

>low key
Yeah if you want that, you do not want the Invidia N1 lol. It's really loud.
