brake clean for small spots, simple green for medium jobs, mineral spirits for large jobs. If the part(s) are iron then you can go with something a little more dangerous... lots of alkaline (basic) cleaners out there to choose from.

Guys, should I clean my engine bay?

My car is 13k miles old and the engine bay already has a coat of dirt all over it. Is it a bad idea to just lightly hose it?

Shop I work at has the same parts washer as pic related. Fantastic for cleaning tons of shit.
