Its pretty Unique in its time plus it does what the engineers want it to do and i'm just glad they made some use out of it.

I hope they use that engine for something else once they discontinue the Viper. i'm pretty sure they can get it to pass emissions and smog for a couple more years if not a whole decade from now might as well get as much use out of it as they can and don't waste it by letting time pass it by as emissions get more strict.

Because that's the main selling point. Nobody else has made a monster V10 at that price point except BMW for just a few years, and those BMWs were muscle barges, not madcap sports coupes.

Even if you step up to the other big V10 on the market with Audi and Lambo, you've historically been looking at a car with way more electronic nannies and awd for twice the money.

That's the why. Big automakers find a niche and build to it, and the Viper fills the huge displacement V10+ sports car niche.

It's not really that big an engine. It's basically a chrysler small block with 2 extra cylinders. The biggest version is like 512 cubes. You can get a chevy big block 8 in 632 cubes.
