Honestly, I would give a go at trying to make it look better before trying to turn it into a rolling joke.

I would use this as an opportunity to try your hand at bodywork. Pull what dents you can, strip it down, bondo whats beyond pulling. After the bodywork try your hand at a rustoleum roll on paint job. Ive always wanted to do one and plan on using my CVPI for a similar test project this summer.

If you try and fail miserably, THEN turn it into a clown car. Byt really OP, this could be a great chance to learn some things you can use in the future.
