It has an MSRP of around $36,000 and comes really well-appointed. It remains to be seen how bad the stealerships mark these up based on demand. I'm on a wait list right.

I wish Mazda would make a detuned MazdaSpeed3 version of this. Under $30k for almost the same as 2013 MS3, but with AWD. That'd be less than a $5k upcharge.

the quaility issues and peices of trims falling off are all from eurofords. its cheaper to replace bits and peices from the one in few who complain than it is to do a entire recall. also if it comes with the same DCT as in the lower model ranges just ignore it, they shit themselfs constantly

I was an email or two away from putting down my deposit for the RS until I took a step back from it and gained some perspective. The interior is honestly awful for a $40k car. Seats are nice but I'm not a fan of the interior design choices and the infotainment/navigation system is one of the worst ones on the market. It's priced competitively in it's segment against the Golf R but it's hard to shake the fact that the focus starts at 17k. They obviously have to share parts and at its base the RS is an econobox with huge power. I really don't need or want 4 doors either.

The RS is a really cool car but too many downsides for me. I'm saving for another 6 months or so then getting a M2 once the hype dies down a bit. It's only an extra 12k (or less since all the Ford dealers in my immediate area were charging 2.5-5k over sticker for the MY 2016 RS) which isn't really that much of a difference for what is in my opinion a much better car.

I realize a lot of the criticism in the last post was subjective (which is fine because I'm the one buying the car) but you're off your rocker if you dont think the M2 looks far better. The only odd thing about it is the open-weave carbon fiber accents but I can live with that.

What do the STI and Evo have to do with any of it? STI has a worse engine than the current WRX with a silly boyracer wing on the back and the Evo isnt even being produced anymore. There's a reason I have never seriously considered owning those cars

Yup. There are really only two options: "executive" package which is a few comfort options, and the DCT automatic. You can't push an M2 over $55K, at least from BMW.

A magazine article said that it's the differentials, they have temperature sensors and when the diff fluid gets too hot they shut them off in the rear. If we nigger rig it, a home made differential oil cooler would probably help to keep the temps low enough with the extra power. I could very well be mistaken though, thoughts?

Lol the interior is nearly identical apart from the seats and maybe a few other small bits. I've driven recent model focuses and the interior is OK. I guarantee it will be similar in longevity to other ford models. Not something I want in a 35k plus car buts that's the trade off for performance. It ain't terrible but don't pretend it won't be nearly the same as a 16k focus or whatever they start at.

I'm very hesitant about the M2 after driving the F80/82 M3 and M4, though. They're fast, but the driver experience just isn't there, and I'm really scared that the M2 will feel like a downsized version of the same thing.

Most dealerships have them marked up to$45k - 50k already, completely defeating the point of the car.

Dealers will kill sales of this "affordable performance" car and Ford will take fewer risks with performance models in this segment in the future.
