Exhaust clips for 240z? Torn between getting the twin pipes or one pipe. Twins sound good.

If you have a choice between twice pipes and si gle pipes, always go twice. The sound is just bad ass.

They are great for the most part, the driver side mirror is really great and the mirror has stayed very clear and sturdy but my passenger side has become a little wobbly over time. I don't know if this is from someone hitting it with their hand or something but I don't mind it too much since it does stay in place, I could probably fix it pretty easily if I dedicated a little time to it. Overall I just wish they felt a little more sturdy or heavy as they always feel like they're going to break when i'm cleaning them even though I know they're strong enough.

260z resto guy here....

I finally have driving impressions! Took the car up to estas park, colorado via hwy 34 with the wife. The trip was glorious and the car couldn't be happier with all the suspension upgrades.

On to greater things, right after the trip, the spark gave out on the car so I decided to overhaul the ignition system and convert the car points to a 280zx distributor/E12-80 ignition module. Picked up a pertronix 1.5Ohm 40kvolt ignition coil, the distributor, base and should be close to doing the swap on Thursday. I also regapped the spark plugs to .041" for the increase in voltage/spark energy.

Why do people like that type3 airdam?
>>
>>14837323

I have no idea, I hate it. When I got the car it didn't have any bumper or valance on the front, and this had been hanging in the garage for 15 years or so so I just tossed it on for some front down force. The plan is to get one of the Xenon urethane ones when I get the time.

>>14837364
Yeah definitely, I need to figure out a 240 bumper conversion first, the only redeeming feature of the type 3 is it hides the fact that I don't own a bumper. But that's all down the list, first I've got to get it aligned and fix all the other things that come with a car that was parked in a yard for 14 years.
>>
>>14837398
240 front end requires

240 or early 260 bumpers

custom brackets

240 grill

240 turn signals

240 airdam.

Most expensive part is the bumper.

hardest part is making the brackets. I have yet to find a good picture showing the correct measurements.

I have read that the 260z bumper brakets only right up to any 260/280z body
>>
>>14837364
I like the front air dams with the brake vents to be honest, but besides that, that isbone clean example of what an S30 should look like.
>>
>>14839373

I'm just gonna put the little euro style lip on mine
>>
>>14837440
I like the 280 style marker lights 2bh, so I'd just need to make some brackets and get a bumper.
>>
>>14837223
My genuine answer is I fried the stock dizzy and a 280zx just kinda popped up. With all the guides out there for the upgrade, and the motivation to get rid of the points system I guess it was just in the cards.

Anyways I'll post my thoughts on the swap and performance before/after hopefully Thursday or Friday....if Colorado doesn't get douched with rain like they say we will...

Yeah but if you go with a 280z air dam then the bumper doesn't fit right and you have the gap on top and bottom of the air dam where the bumper fits in.

Definitely, yeah. Problem for a future time though, I got it back from the alignment shop, the spindle on the right front is tweaked, giving it half a degree of positive camber, and the whole rear right corner is tweaked, fucking up the toe, so I need to scavenge some suspension off another car before i can do any visual mods.

A 1.25" drop does a world of good for handling, and still gives you ample ground clearance.

you know, looking at the rusted parts on the carbs, I think a simple phone charger electrolysis system would work wonders on those parts. A few new gaskets and submerging the rest in carb cleaner, and you'd probably be in tip top shape.

Yeah now that you mention it it doesn't seem that bad, I have a pic from the other side I forgot to post but it goes past the image size limit so I took a screenshot of it lol

looks fine, I'd flush the coolant system really well and replace the oil and plugs/plug wires/distributor cap and rotor, but then I'd feel very comfortable running and driving it again

(of course, before first start up I'd take the valve cover off and drench the cam with oil, and I'd take the spark plugs out and blast some marvel mystery oil in there, and let it sit for an hour or two, in case there is rust)

oh, and I'd replace your air filters. Those look disgusting.
