Just because the rules are different in the US doesn't make them better, the crash tests they run have always been higher to compensate for the fact they can't fit into normal sized cars so the shit they produce runs over the top of normal crash structures, adjusting the E-Type for the septic market actually made it less safe but the pre-US spec cars wouldn't pass the US safety regs at the time due to the bumpers being too low.

It's a nice little car. It's probably going to suck in small offset crash tests when the driver's wheel gets torn off and it drops onto that corner, pinning the door shut. Jerome at Elio told me in that case you're expected to climb out the right side window.

Hey man, the tape adapters commonly add at least one percentile point of Total Harmonic Distortion at all levels. The Signal to Noise Ratio is usually around a sad 75-78dB. Audibly shows up as a weak signal with reduced low frequencies under 150Hz and high frequencies over 15KHz that sounds distorted at low levels and very distorted at high levels.

There are better options.

You're aware that something smaller is usually proportinally stronger than something bigger? Especially if optimized for stiffness instead of crumple zones. For example, a Smart car Tridion safety cell is, in case of a crash into a car that is not also a Smart or perhaps an armored car, the automotive equivalent of stepping onto a Lego. It doesn't have any crumple zones to make use of, so it will forcibly use the larger, overall softer car as a crumple zone for itself. Smart cars crashing into other, larger cars, especially soft 90's American sedans or others in that build category, often behave like ballistic projectiles trying to carve a way through the other car. Especially on side impact crashes.

Now look at this three wheeled thing. If you look at it from above, it even looks as if it was a rifle bullet. Imagine that punching through a fat SUV and flying out on the other side, leaving only ludicrous gibs in its wake.
>>
>>14817593
>Especially if optimized for stiffness instead of crumple zones.
He wasn't talking about the Elio, he was talking about the Dacia, which is optimaized for cheap and probably crumples like tissue paper in an accident.

Anybody with half a brain realizes that the Elio is probably a pretty safe car, so long as you don't get hit by a semi.

They already developed their own inline 3. Its all done as of right now. They've produced quite a few blocks last I heard. There hasn't been any real progress for the past couple years, and there is no actual reason why.

I think individual states have legislation that requires three wheeled vehicles to be recognized as motorcycles, and a few of them have mandatory helmet laws. Thats probably the only thing actually holding them back from being sold, but they still have to actually be mass produced first.
