Does fiero suffer from it? I need to know.
>>
fuck off Corey
>>
1988 Formula Fiero's will turn very well
>>
>>14796627
Even compared to an MR2? What does the Fiero miss out on?
>>
>>14796627
even then non 88 models are very good at turning, they defiantly do need a rear sway bar added.
>>
It turns well enough that GM killed it because it was beating up Corvettes on their own track.
>>
>>14796634
op the only real big problem with the fiero is all stock engines offered are shit. you literally have to engine swap it to make it really good. Im a huge fero fan but the stock engines offered are boat anchors with near negative hp levels.
>>
>>14796634
Reliability and quality.
>>
Am I understanding something wrong? Unless you have a turbo SW20 (unfair generation comparison), the MR2 engines don't seem any better than the Fiero's V6. The V6 is torque-ier too.

AW11 supercharged: 145hp/140f.lbs
SW20 N/A: 130hp/140f.lbs @ 4400rpm
Fiero V6: 135 hp/165f.lbs @3,900 rpm
>>
>>14797125
the aw11's 4 cylinder is super reliable and revs to 8k giving the car some fun qualities while still being dependable
>>
>>14797143
How is getting your hp at 8k RMP more fun than getting the the same at 5.5k?
>>
>>14797206
>SW20 N/A: 130hp/140f.lbs @ 4400rpm

Wut.
The N/A 3SGE in the MR2 had anywhere from 150/180HP depending on the revision number.
>>
>>14797125
hey someone who has real things to say!

Yes I agree technically the v6 option for the fiero made is a contender stock. however the gm 2.8l v6 doesnt respond well to modification and isnt worth putting much into. comparably the 4A and the 3S toyota motors have a much better trac record for reliability and reasonable modification can yield some decent power from them.

still a huge fiero fan, but im on fiero number 3 and they have plenty of flaws to address before they are truely good. I even loved my stock automatic 4cyl fiero, but just plan a swap.

Max. Output (SAE-NET) HP@rpm (kW/rpm) 130@5400 (97/5400) 130@5400 (97/5400) 200@6000 (149/6000)(TURBO) 130@5400 (97/5400)

That explains it, I didn't know America got the 5SFE in their N/A SW20s instead of the 3SGE.

Fiero is heavier with old school 80s style suspension. It'll handle more power than an MR2 for sure but it is less agile without mods and will always be heavier but safer as well.
>>
>>14797269
What flaws can I expect? Big reliability issues, or handling flaws that make it an inferior sports car? Engine doesnt seem amazing but at least it seems adequate enough compared to pre-modified MR2 competition.

Considering how much MR2's are hyped up here and everywhere else, while Fiero's seem to have zero fanbase, I can only imagine there is something really stinking up the Fiero. It's a cheap mid-engine RWD after all...
>>
>>14797125
non usa regions had a trim with the 3S-GE, making around 160hp/150ft-lbs
>>
>>14797328
Honestly if your not looking for crazy power a mildly tuned up v6 fiero with some suspension work would be very reliable (depending on milage or how much you restore it it is 25 years old.) The snap over steer isnt a meme but its over hyped. the biggest mod for handling i did with my stock fiero was adding a rear sway bar. The stock front bar from a fiero works surprisingly well. details here http://fierozone.tripod.com/weekend/swaybar/

I would suggest finding a 1988 v6 for the best stock suspension. but if you want a cheaper starter the pre 88 fieros are almost always cheapest.

Continued....
Biggest flaws iv found are usually regular wear in the interior/switches and saggy door hinges. the doors carry a ton of weight in the fiero, but its an incredibly safe cockpit. The cradle bushings are always shot and make the biggest difference in handling. SNAP will occur hard if the cradle bearings are bad, cause your whole engine trans drive train is able to move independent of the chassis. I found solid mounts to be the best replacement.
>>
>>14797328
Dude listen you want to go to the extra effort to have an aftermarket engine in your Fiero whether you get it swapped yourself or have the patience and go the distance to get a pre-swapped one. The 3.8SC and the Northstar V8 are both practically optional packages for these cars. There was a "Why can't I stop buying Fieros?" thread the other day that guy has three. Buy one of his I'm sure he'd take $3000, which is what I regularly see swapped Fieros go for.
>>
>>14797442
Good option, ebay also has afew finished swaps under 10k often. btw dont pay more then 6k for anyone's homemade swap. they're almost always a mess ready to catch fire.
>>
>>14797269
>for reliability

the 2.8l gm V6 is indestructible

i used to rev mine past valve-float everyday. they are strong
>>
>EV fiero conversion on craigslist for $9K
would it be even more likely to catch fiero?
