>putting your faith in GM
>putting your fait in any american car manufacturer
>believing in Caddiwreck
>unironically saying that "AMERICAN CARS ARE GUD NOW!"

AHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!! Get ready for the baby Escalade or some utter shit like that.

Cadillac will never ever play in the big league again :^)
>>
I hope amerifats realize what this means:

Cadillac's strategy to enter the american luxury market is not working.
Instead they will focus on making cash-cow SUVs.

American luxury will stay just as dead as it has been for decades now.
>>
Bump for GM fanboy tears

Fucking NAFTA strikes again

We could have stopped this.
>>
>>14787418

None of the big germans would ever sacrifice any of their other cars for more SUVs though.

>S-Class doesn't get canned for SUV
>7-Series doesn't get canned for SUV
>A8 doesn't get canned for SUV
>Caddiwreck: "FUCK IT! We can't compete with them anyways! Let's build a babby Escalade and just continue being shit!"
>>
>>14787426

No, you couldn't have. Amerifats are the ones who started it in the first place.
>>
Will amerishits ever kill their own car companies or at least let them die and not bail them out?

Just look at GM:

>HEY! Look at this nice Ciel!
>HEY! How do you like this Elmiraj?
>Too bad! We're making more SUVs
>>
>>14787426
Blame burgercucks.
>>
>>14787238
well that's what generally happens when you design your product to appeal to people who can't afford it
>>
wow its like everything wrong with the auto industry is somehow related to america
>>
>>14787459

There are plenty of people who could afford a real luxury Cadillac S-Class competitor.

They are smart enough to know that Caddiwreck would just make another Mcmansion car that looks impressive and luxurious but is shit in every way, GM-style.
>>
>>14787427
but they aren't sacrificing any existing models and Mercedes makes six times as many cars as Cadillac, even GMs most optimistic outcome is 500k-per-anum by 2020
>>
>>14787213
>again
Like they were ever great.
>>
>>14787538

They are sacrificing their big flagship halo sedan to compete with the S-Class.

Not a big sacrifice in terms of sales but certainly a great PR and image sacrifice.
>>
>>14787565

If GM wants halo car they should build 100 Ciels and sell them for $1M each
>>
>>14787675

They are sacrificing a car they have already been developing and talking about to the press.

I'd say that is pretty shitty PR but then again GM fanboys just love eating GM shit

cadillac already has the luxury suv market on lock with the escalade

they sold over 35000 in 2015 alone

on a platform that is dirt cheap to build

they don't need some overzealous and pretentious luxury sedan

not like they can design one any ways

7 series, s-class, phantom, mulsanne, a8, all have roots going back decades

what did we have a decade ago from cadillac

the deville and the escalade

a fwd shit on the proverbial chest of the luxury community and a chevy silverado with a new body and some leather

but here's what gets me

you have one of the most reliable, torquey, and effective engines out there

on a frame that is built to haul a big payload

and in a world that is driving towards more environmentally friendly means of transportation

why the fuck don't they turn these big pick-ups into plug in hybrids

plenty of room for batteries, plenty of motor to generate power, and plenty of demand for big and unwieldy vehicles that don't make sense
>>
>>14788121

>they don't need some overzealous and pretentious luxury sedan

And yet that is exactly what they promised the amerifats.

>WE WILL TAKE BACK THE LUXURY MARKET FROM THE GERMANS
>S-CLASS KILLER ALMOST HERE
>WATCH OUT GERMANY!

And of course dumb as fuck /o/ shits with their relentless "AMERICAN CARS ARE GUD NOW!" shilling ate that GM shit up like big bellied starving african children
>>
>>14787440
Americans didn't get to vote on the bailouts.

I know a lot of people that would rather have lets GM and a few critical banks die so that shit could just hit the fan so we could stop putting a bandage on something that needed stitches.

But the average american has virtually zero real political power.
>>
>>14788165

i bet you promise yourself something every day and fail to hold yourself to it

everyone knows american cars are crap. that's why the only people buying them are rental car companies, construction workers, and corporations who need employee loaners

only trump voters believe the bullshit that gm puts out
>>
>>14788180

look it's baby's first political post

you make it sound like every single dollar hasn't been made up PLUS billions in interest

it was a fantastic business decision by the US goverment

https://projects.propublica.org/bailout/

for the lazy, us goverment paid out a total of $619 billion

after interest, dividends, and standard fees to repurchase the stocks, the US government took back in $688 billion
>>
>>14788180
it's called system relevancy
>>
>>14788180
The bailout was about more than just saving GM and Chrysler. These companies are mainly engine builders and assembly plants. The automotive ecosystem includes the many companies that specialize in manufacturing automotive components, such as BorgWarner, Delphi, Nexteer and Remy. If GM and Chrysler went under, these businesses would have been forced to lay off thousands and might have gone under themselves.
>>
>>14787238
basically everybody is doing it though, fucking maserati is making a landwhale, and bentley just made one

it'd be hilarious if cadillac broke into the luxury market through SUVs by making a super upscale one that retails for 150k
>>
>>14787213
I think Cadillac doesn't earn as much in America as in China, where SUV's and shit like that is even more desired in even bigger numbers.

Hence, with the suv trend increasing in Burgerland too,the ct8 won't be as profitable and they won't bother, not to mention that Average Joe doesn't care about saloons, because he would rather have an SUV with the same luxury and high clearance, because he's a stupid burger who can't drive and wants to be the """boss""" of the road

Which is fucking sad
>>
Will there be a Buick version of the CT6?
>>
CUVs and SUVs are literally the best selling vehicle types GLOBALLY.

Global market, guys. Global market.

they already have the escalade that starts at 75k

>>14788597
>4 door version of a 2 door version of a 4 door car
>>
>>14788633
that is nice, but there's a tier higher than that which they have not touched, in which they could really spread their wings in interior quality and design without compromises
>>
>>14788832

that's a tier that no american car has touched yet except for the ford gt

i mean what could they even do to warrant that sort of price

a supercharged v8 in a crossover?

no one wants that

i still think a plug-in hybrid escalade would do very well

especially if you could make one with a full electric range of 30 miles and up to 60 mph

all of those celebrities who are 'worried' about global warming but still buy big cars would jump on them

but no one cared about the idx

cadillac has been promising something like the ct8 for a long, long time

and they will never deliver because it cannot compare with an s class that can see in the dark and drive itself

One can only hope.
>>
>>14788870

>>

>but no one cared about the idx

what about all the nissan fanboys who kept posting it in every concept-car thread saying "never forget" and the ones who were extremely upset when they heard it was cancelled and made a 200+ reply thread?

if anything i thought more cared about the IDX than the CT8.

If the new RX9 gets cancelled or is a complete disaster you;ll probably see more tears from rotary fans than anyone since i think that's the next thing most people want right now apart from the IDX not to mention that will be the chance to prove rotaries are worth something in the new age before we all go hybrid/electric (which seems to be where motor-sport and performance cars in general are shifting).
>>
Assuming this isn't a complete troll thread and the people ITT are genuinley serious about bashing GM, and America, why?

Why would you invest millions of dollars and not make your money back. This makes sense from a business standpoint.

If GM went ahead and made luxury sedans there would be no more Cadillac. They just don't sell good enough anymore.
>>
>>14787325
LOL
no one gives a shit faggot
>>
>>14788079
>Odyssey competitor
GM left the minivan game a long time ago. Chrysler is the only US domestic still making them.
>>
>>14789326
Think of all the money Cadillac has spent building concept cars the the Sixteen, the Ciel, the Elmiraj, the one that became the ELR,etc.

Now imaging ethey didn't build any of those and took tklbat money and actually spent it on brining a true flagship car to production.

Flagship vehicles aren't always about sales. Most of the time, a flagship vehicle is about building a luxurious image for your entire brand, so that people in a C-Class can put a picture of an S-Class as their computer wallpaper and think that they have a little piece of it, and that ONE DAY they will be successful enough for the glamorous flagship. On the flipside, general interest in a flagship like the LS sometimes gets people into the Lexus dealership. They may realize they can't afford the flagship right now, so they drive off in an ES with a few hopes and dreams stashed in the trunk.

Cadillac just threw all that out the window.

The Denali can easily fill the Caddy's shoes and allow the Escalade to march upmarket. The Platinum Edition should be the new base model. The hyper luxury top of the line model should do everything short of pump it's own gas.
