Am I the only one here who likes Jaguars? Makes me feel special owning one since they're not common. Here's mine, a 1998 Jaguar XK8. Got it for only $2000 on Craigslist, had some electrical issues but I fixed it myself.
>>
>>14778670
I like them from before when Ford ruined them.
>>
>>14778670
I like them a lot as well

Hope to get an XJR someday, I consider it my realistic dream car.

Any Eurobros got any tips for Ameriburgers looking for a Jag?
>>
How do you niggers justify the running costs of these money pits?

I have always liked those XK8's.
>A neighbor used to have one.
>He was this old guy who supposedly "had money" i.e. Total assclown
>Saw him drive it twice
>One day see a flatbed tow truck go on his property
>Later pulls out with the XK8 onboard and heads towards civilization
>Never see that car again
>>
>>14778847
Well I wouldn't recommend owning one if you don't know how to wrench, they're either for people with lots of money or lots of time
>>
It looks like a babby DB7

For $2k, fuck it, I'd buy one. Worst case scenario, it's already set up for a v8... Just need $500 and an afternoon. :^)

Here's mine, I've had a few different ones over the years now, Mk2, Series3 Sovver, Series 2 Double Six, XJ-S HE, XJ81 Daimler. This is my current one, 1994 XJ12. iirc the XJ40's are the last models from pre-ford ownership, not that I have anything against Ford though, they pumped in ghastly amounts of money into Jaguar, modernizing those old sheds they had for production, doubt they would've survived without it.

>>14779283
This, parts are pretty cheap in my book, there's aftermarket parts around and they're common enough to be found in breaker yards, so diy ownership isn't bad at all. But dealerships charge arms and legs for anything they do, and probably salt the part prices a bit too, last time I heard a quote from there it was surreal.

Nope you're not alone. I like the XK's, the circa-2000 XJ's, and the XJ-S. I never seem to buy one though because I keep acquiring Fox Mustangs somehow.
>>
>>14778856
BMWs give a pretty solid driving experience that isn't really matched by anything other than maybe a 240SX/Miata/S2000/RX Series though. Did you think that reputation is just badgelickers alone? You're not impressing anyone in a 15 year old 3-Series with the resale of a Ford Taurus

How is it OP? I have a hard-on for XKRs, beautiful cars.

I've got an XJ40 that I picked up for $400, nothing really wrong with it apart from some rust and a few bits of the interior. Although it's not my daily driver.

Love my Jag. Actually looking at an XFR later this year to DD and keep the XType as a winter beater because AWD. It is very comfy and barring oil changes, a tune up, tires, and a diff/trans flush, I haven't had to do any other work to it. I did when I bought it replace the battery because it was original and install the larger S Type R brakes, but beyond that it is perfectly reliable for me 40k miles into ownership. Bought at 48k miles.
>>
>>14781442

Looks pretty tidy, is it a 3 litre Sport? How tall are you btw? Got invited to test one when they were introduced, remember finding it a bit cramped inside.,
>>
>>14781885
Yep 3.0 AWD Sport. And I'm about 6'2" and am very comfy. Headroom is more an issue than the legroom for sure, have to duck slightly getting out.

That's actually a common misconception about more modern (post 1980s) Jags. They have some very specific issues that arise, but the real costs are labor. I've yet to run into a part that was astronomically higher than an equivalent full size or mid size (in my case comparing the lower control arms to something like a Ford Contour or a Dodge Avenger, it is maybe 5-10 higher per arm). Even then, parts for my old 1994 XJS were only pricey when dealing with engine internals and certain electrics like window regulators, but there is the benefit that I is very very comfy and in my opinion classier than any other mid level luxury brand (Rolls being High level luxury).

After having the Alcantara, I cannot go back to full leather. It just grips so well to slacks and jeans. The bolsters, while high, pretty well conform to my frame and I do not shift positions at all in the corners.

I wish. The XJ220 is one of my favorite supercars of all time. I've said if I hit the big money later in life, my 6 car garage would be

1. 1965 Plymouth Belvedere Hemi
2. 1998 Honda NSX-T
3. 1999 Lamborghini Diablo 6.0 VT
4. 1993 Dodge Viper 8.4 swapped
5. 20XX Jaguar Mid size R model
6. 1994 Jaguar XJ220

I was thinking of getting one for the heck of it,specifically this one:

https://jo.opensooq.com/en/search/37072511/%D8%AC%D8%A7%D8%BA%D9%88%D8%A7%D8%B1-vj6l-%D9%84%D9%84%D8%A8%D9%8A%D8%B9-%D9%88%D9%83%D8%A7%D9%84%D9%87

I already have a 2012 Accord but idk
I wouldn't mind maintaining two cars

btw the english version of the website is pretty messed up so expect some fuck ups here and there
>>
>>14778670
There's a reason why they're not common.
>>
>>14782627
I only wish they used a TT V12 instead of a TT V6. Probably would have made much more power and gone faster.
>>
>>14782656
Yeah there is. Because the 79s and 80s were unkind to jag and they developed a reputation. Now they still have the smaller market share (from the 90s on) and BMWs, Mercs, and Audis are more popular.
>>
>>14782753
Possibly. But then you get into much much more weight, larger heavier cooling systems, heavier transmissions, etc. The V6 was a dream come true as it handled insanely well and was also economical. It to me was an early Noble M600 or Mclaren MP4-12C
>>
>>14782770
True. I think the number one complaint people have driving it is the turbo lag. Maybe a twincharged system, coupled with billet internals, would be ideal.
>>
>>14782803
Or new variable geometry turbos, possibly in a sequential setup would solve the lag. Even then, at the engine speeds this thing cruises at, anything above idle will get rid of most of the lag. On a launch, it would get monstered. From a rolling start? Not so much.

I like that idea, less plumbing to deal with.
Let's get it to 1500 HP, just for fun.

Carbon fibre: cut the weight down from 3200 lbs to maybe 2800 lbs.

Engine Block (please don't shit on me for this): billet LS block, destroked for higher RPM, billet internals.

Forced Induction: variable geometry turbos in a sequential setup, coupled with a Kenne Belle supercharger.

150 shot of Nitrous: only available in Race Mode.

Transmission: 8L90E automatic, but allow a full "Manual Mode".

Exhaust: We don't want it sounding like an American V8, so 180 degree headers would have to be used.

Rear End, obviously strengthened a lot: Cyro treatment, billet aluminum parts.

Race Mode: allows for nitrous button to be activated, quicker transmission shifts, launch control, exhaust cutouts open, and stiffer suspension.

Spoiler: pic related actually doesn't look too bad, perhaps one like the Veyron or P1 would work.

Any other ways to improve the car?
>>
>>14783147
I'm gonna say nay to the LS and yes to the Igenium (sp) 5.0 V8.
>>
>>14783233
>Igenium (sp) 5.0 V8.
Hmmm, can it reliably make 1500 HP? If so, then yes.

Instead of an LS, maybe a Viper V10.
>>
>>14783312
Well I believe a more hand built one could quite easily. And even though I like the Viper V10, it just doesn't fit the image.
>>
>>14783431
Possibly. I've seen the GTR engine been taken up to 2400 HP. Proline or Steve Morris could build it.

Saw one parked the other day, looked pretty decent. Could imagine having one but I prefer the older models. Not sure if it's possible to do own maintenance on something that new though. Anything up to x350 has quite a lot of info out there, not sure there's any workshop manuals to buy for the new models.

Well, I just got cucked by my Marelli ignition a couple hours ago, shut down one bank, probably filled up the exhaust with fuel and then the cat went poof and it started smoking like hell. Anyone here tried installing an aftermarket ignition system on these engines?
>>
>>14787647
http://www.msextra.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=94&t=37614

Long story short, you either use two ecu's, one for each bank (like Mercedes and BMW do), or you can cheap out a bit by using just one ecu on batch fire mode.
