Is that a snapon power tool?
What a joke lol.
I love how the snapon caliper is literally the exact same caliper that harbor freight sells with a different sticker on it

Snapon powertools are literally craftsman tier, dewalt and milwaukee are the goat for electric power tools.

Clearly says mac tools. I bought both the 3/8 and 1/2 for $500. They retail $500 each.
>>
>>14774148
Ahh yeah, had to open in new tab and zoom in.
Never fucked with a mac power tool, no comment.

I love their air impacts tho.

Obviously a light user, otherwise you'd own a proper die grinder.

One guy I work with does that because we get racks tied up for months sometimes and need to move around the shop, seems pretty smart actually, nice if you ever do race gigs on the weekends too. I still do the old way though and just throw a pile of tools in a cart (the kind with no drawers, just a roller)
>>
>>14777875
I do the same thing, I know what I need for my track days I don't need to bring my whole tool box
>>
>>14774111
In the left drawer, all the way to the left, what are those red-handled screwedriver lookin things?

I was thinking about changing to a setup like that but instead I'm just going to attach my box to a Cushman cart and drive it around the shop, or to the track on the weekends

Anyone thought about working for Tesla? I work near one of their service centers, went from a 4 rack shop working on the roadsters to taking over every building in the vicinity, probably have 50+ racks, 3 alignment racks that I can see passing by, it's crazy, this is all within about a year and a half. I haven't heard too much about the work but my coworker was saying a few guys went over from his old shop and if you are good they will pretty much send you anywhere to go help out smaller service centers, one guy went to Sweden and another back to the Midwest. I imagine you would be diagnosing squeaks/knocks all the time (near silent luxury car made in the US seems like the worst possible combo for noises), and dealing with sending data to the mothership. Not really my thing and I already have too good of a gig but seems like a good opportunity for young techs just getting started.

Opinions on tool storage? Do you guys use the 5S method?

Sunex or grey pneumatic. Taiwan offers really great quality for the price with pretty basic shit like sockets.

>>14777908
Ones is a gasket scraper and the other is a pick designed to loosen hoses by jamming it between the hose and pipe.

>>14777897
I don't have a bay I work out of. I work all around the shop. Some trucks stay in the shop for months. Sometimes were so backed up I have to work outside in the parking lot.

I could totally see not needIng a fully stocked roll cart if you have an assigned work area, but that is not the case at my job.

>>14777875
What is this? What exactly do you do? I need this in my life.

It's a 430 with the gearbox out, I'm a tech at a Ferrari shop. Here's the inside of the gearbox with the guts out (I didn't take it apart, only rebuilt transmissions in school, every other shop I've worked at sent them out or just replaced them)
>>
>>14778058
Wow, If I had to work outside the shop I would leave that shop
>>
>>14778123
Business has grown faster than expected. We're working in a 4 bay shop right now, we're supposed to be going to a 20 bay shop by the end of the year. The pay and training is too good to complain much.
>>
>>14778167
In a 20 bay shop? sounds like complete over kill, how many lifts?
>>
I'm building my tool pile now. I kind of have non existent storage space though and I can't put shit on the walls. What would be the best way to store it all, just in the tins and shit it all came in?
>>
>>14778103
U going to sonoma this weekend?
>>
>>14778223
Unsure on the lift situation right now. I don't imagine we'll have much trouble filling 20 bays with 24/7 hours of operation. As it is right now 2-3 of our 4 bays are taken up by in frame jobs because we end up waiting for what seems like years for parts. Our parts department is terrible.
