Dude, if you were inside the car when it was hit, why didn't you just chase them? Just enough to get close enough to memorize the license plates, and identify the vehicle. I've had to do it before (though my car was much faster), and then I let the cops take care of the rest. Also, please invest in a dash cam if you don't have one, it has saved my butt many times!

as if dashcam will help anything. if anything, it'll be even worse than that camera of OP. dashcams offer only good wide recording angle. no autofocus, no nightvision. its blurry as shit with fullhd resolution in a day time. at night, without LED flash, street lamps or any light source its literally shit.
