What does /o/ think about the Chevrolet SS?

I'd buy one if I had the money. seems like a great cruiser & freeway car. also it's a total sleeper, people don't know what they are.

Too expensive to have a chevy badge.

Rather buy a CTS and get better build quality.

The SS is still built in Australia. Despite apparently huffing gasoline and being drunk-ass bogans, the G8's were put together better than the other GM stuff at the time.

have you ever noticed how people who buy cheap new cars don't take care of them as well as someone who just spend 60k on a cadillac? not to mention people don't put as many miles on their luxury car compared to a cheap focus or something.

the demographic is different for the base company(GM, FoMoCo, etc) and the luxury branch (Cadillac, Buick, Lincoln, etc)

Don't they still put LS3s in these cars? is that why they get such low fuel economy? either way i like that and it just means these cars will likely run a long time. i heard GM has plans to continue the Chevrolet SS (or at least make a new one) It seems like they want to squeeze more life out of the Zeta (odd that they didn't go Alpha for the new SS)

The new one will probably be built here since the Holden factory will be closing down in 2017 or 18.

Own one. It's an awesome car because it has manners. It's has a nice smooth ride, isn't egging you on to stomp the gas pedal, and is quite comfortable in the inside. However, it'll move out pretty good when you stomp the gas and makes an amazing sound. My only gripe about the car is the front end. Im not a huge fan on how it looks, but I think the rear end is stunning.

I love the way it looks in every angle. they could've brought it here looking as angry and mean as a charger but they kept it modest and i like that especially considering if they make a newer "refreshed" model exterior-wise they could severely fuck it up making it look jaggy and less smooth (like pic related new impala)

I wish we could keep cars that look like this with updated technology. Ford should've updated the crown-vic but kept its exterior roughly the same. hell, i think all Manufacturers need at least one car that's almost completely immune to current design memes.

It is literally a re-badged Holden Commodore we have here in Aus. Bogans(rednecks) buy them en-mass because their cheap. Cheap for a reason. My family has owned 3, 1 of the latest generation. They're all unrealiable pieces of shit, shitty cheap plastic and the suspension is made of cheese. The gearbox on the VE is literally a grenade. My dad only kept the VE and VZ cus he said "their 'strayan, I don't buy that jap crap". Yea, cus my Mazda 323 is crap, despite lasting the length of 3 generations of your Commodore. If you want a V8 wrapped in plastic, I wont stop you, but you've been warned by the people who have put up with them for nearly 20 years.

I had an E60 M5 prior to this, so I can agree with that. I do appreciate the conservative looks of the SS, especially when you're looking at how the camaro and vette look. But I just feel the front end could've looked a bit better. Honestly, me bitching about the car is pointless because I liked it enough to buy one. It truly is a enjoyable car, even in traffic I enjoy it. It's makes my ass dyno happy with its torque and my ears happy with it noise.
