Have you ever even owned a brand new car?

Why not?
>>
>>14756969
That's my car!
>>
>>14756969
Yes, it had 5 miles on it when I got it.

I bought a brand new Harley, but the newest car I've purchased was 2 years old with 13,500 on the clock.
>>
Bought a 2011 Traverse LTZ when it was new. Had 25 miles on it.

It was one of those "I don't want to give up my car for a minivan" situations. I settled for a crossover
>>
Because 20% instant depreciation, significant insurance requirements, general paranoia etc

No

because I'm 20 and I love my 90s shitboxes.
If I could afford one I'd consider it, but nah I don't really like modern cars that much anyway.
>>
>buying something that will be worth at least $5000 less as soon as you drive it off the lot
Maximum cuck
>>
i bought one literally a week and 2 days ago.
had 8 miles on it.
>>
>>14757096
>>14757108
Eh, I'd say it's not worth it if you're buying a car just because you need to buy a car. If it's a realistic dream car though and you've saved up and ordered it with all the options, colors and bells and whistles your little heart desires, then that's a different story. In that case you're probably planning to keep it and babby the shit out of it.
>>
>>14757108
Good thing I paid 7k under sticker.
>>
>>14757108
how many vehicles do you know of that have appreciated in price?
>>

A lot.

Mine didn't depreciate $5k after 3 years and 75k miles.

I've owned 4 brand new cars. I see the appeal in both new and used so I'm not hung up on it either way. My most recent purchase is a 15 year old truck and it's been fun going through it and fixing/changing shit. I unfortunately bricked the security system on it so it's dead at the moment.
>>
Bought this new back in November.

Already put 11k miles on it. I'm worried I'm driving it too much.
>>
>>14757144
I dont think you know what "appreciate" means...
>>
>>14756969
No but my parents have
>>
>>14757392
Just get some government bonds then.
>>
>>14756969
No
Because of the huge depreciation

I appreciate you, Andres

Had 2 new cars, one had 15 miles on before my test drive. The other was driven 240 miles to the dealership and god knows what they did to it on the way.
>>
>>14756969
The only reason I'd want a new is the that new car smell/feel

Literally better than huffing gas

I bought a Pre Reg FiST, back in Febuary.

Haven't found one worth the price
Plus I got student loans to pay
>>
>>14756969
Id only buy a new car if I'm planing to drive it until it's ready for the scrapyard and worth pennies, but in my country id never buy one new simply because of taxes which I need to pay out of my ass and I don't want to sponsor my state like that, hell even if I was loaded I wouldn't buy a new car simply because of taxes.

I bought my Suzuki Alto 2 months ago because I needed a cheap maintenance-free car for at least the rest of the year and cheap to mantain for the next 3 to 5 years. I bought it on cash, so no debt. If I had enough money I'll buy a bigger car 2-3 from now while keeping the Alto because it's quite fun and dirt cheap to run
>>
>>14756969
No. Because I can't afford one.

I only started driving a few years ago. I only started working full-time at around the same time.
I'm working my way up to nicer cars as I get myself more established. My next car is either gonna be a new one, or a used hot hatch.

I'd rather buy a used car for 10K and sell it for 6 than buy a brand new car for 22K and sell it for 12.

How is it to drive? Supposed to have good mpg and I heard there's a turbo option
>>
>>14756969

I don't think I ever will. I just don't really like new cars enough. Unless they make some 2000lb 300hp sportscar someday I really don't even want one.
>>
>>14760263

I also need it to look like it came out of the 80s.... sooo.............
>>
>>14756969
Because my 14 Focus with 9k miles on it was only 11k. IL end up buying something new when it dies or I get settled into my career

I bought a new car exactly a year ago (April 2nd 2015) and I've done 25,2xx miles and love it. I could have something else I would loved too but most of driving is going to work and cruising (I love mountain roads)

It has a bunch of bells and whistles but I mainly just like the USB port and sunroof. I plan on having it until for at least a decade and getting a second "fun" car eventually.
>>
>>14757361
you have a bizarre taste in vehicles
>>
I will never own a brand new car. Cars nowadays are filled with shitty electronics that will start breaking down after 5 years, all look the same and are very heavy. I doubt any new-ish car will last as long as the 80s/90s shitboxes that will run forever if you have a bunch of wrenches, zipties and duct tape.

Steering is nothing to write home about but it does have a nice weighted feel to it at least. I average 35mg mostly around town. 40mpg is doable but only by being extremely light with the pedal on the highway. There is a turbo that I didn't opt for because I wanted a sub-400/month car payment.
>>14760332
PT was my mom's car that became my first car in high school. It was still considered "cool" when I graduated in 2006. The interior has deteriorated to complete shit like only an American car can, but other than that it still cranks whenever I ask it to, which isn't often.
>>
>>14756969

Pretty simple, not enough money. Depreciation.
>>
Yep. Bought a new civic when I got married.

Still have it, struggled to pay but with a little help managed.

..it still looks good to me although I'd like to have cared for it better..

70 something k miles and it only just feels like it's loosening up..

Every time I think about selling it something comes up to keep me from doing so..

Wouldn't have it any other way I suppose.

..getting a new car but it puts the fear of God into me really..

Struggle through it I hope.

It's just a car right?
>>
>>14758225
can't afford a car, calls someone a cuck for buying a fully loaded suv
>>
>>14757144
these cars are already rare
>>
Because I'm poor and my poorness makes me realise paying first owner premium isn't worth it.
>>
>>14756969
No and never will. I don't like the fact that as soon as I drive off the lot it depreciates by 15% minimum. So shit boxes for me with engine swaps.
>>
Buying a new car that depreciates a bunch in 1.year isn't the greatest idea...but if u have enough $$$, where that depreciation isn't going to dent ue banal acct, then who cares...we don't take anything with us when we die !!!! Most expensive car I have purchased was a $7k car with 70k miles ...
>>
There's nothing on the market that convinces me to buy it new. I probably won't ever purchase a commuter new unless I have children and want the pinnacle of safety, not when I can get the same function for two grand on craiglist.
Something that I could very likely get though is the Toyota S-FR. If the supposedly 'leaked' specs are true (2160 lb, RWD, 130hp, under 15k MSRP) and it makes it to production, then there's something to push me to buying it off the lot. The benefits with that being the safety, reliability, and fuel economy as opposed to buying a used $4k Miata and getting a hardtop. Besides that, it's been and still looks to be a better compromise to buy things used. But if money isn't an issue for someone, I do understand the sentimental feeling of getting a car right from the production line.
