I've got no idea how long these things run for though and I don't want to buy a sports car just for it to poop out on me after a few KMs

i bought two cars with 300k km on them they where fucked.
sweet spot is between 50-150k anything over 200k is pushing it.
luckily my latest car only needed a couple of sensors and a tune for a maf delete 210k on it.
depends how the cars been treated and where its been driven try to get cars that sit in a closed garage on the highway.

Is there anything I can look for when I inspect the car?
I know that any rust in the engine bay and snowy residue on the battery are bad signs but the only car buying experience I have is buying a focus new from ford last year
Get a PPI before you buy the car.
85k is literally nothing. Those Z engines are bulletproof

In general? No mileage is too much if it's been taken care of and there are maintenance records.
How many miles are too many for a shitty, boyracer owned 370z? 1.

What about a lexus is250? Still a boy racer car?

>buying the 250
Is350 is the actual performance model.

Do you have aids by any chance?

Engine oil becomes black after a couple of hours of driving. Color is not indicative of condition unless it's got coolant mixed in.
