What are the best cars to get 1980 and below? This is what I have now.

you nailed it right off the bat, almost,
mk1 rabbit diesel, or rabbit pick up (yes, still diesel)
SA22c

Mine is a manual transmission gas rabbit. :/

nice. Good trannies but they changed the gear ratios like every year for some reason. I crashed my 81 pick up and now I've got mk2s - one golf and one jetta, diesels of course, but thats just me, Ideal would be 82 rabbit, right after they corrected a problem with the head bolts

Yeah tell me about it. I'm pretty sure my year suffers from at least 6 recalls. The firewall is cracker and rusted from leakage which fucked up the electronics, VW laughed when I called about the recall lol. Supposedly if this was taken care of in the 80's I would have got a whole new front end.

yeah, even vw guys don't defend the electronics in these things. They are set up so that when the windshield seal goes, the water hits the relays and the fuse panel itself. If its any consolation, this happens on later models too

I never had such a strong love hate relationship with a car. The plan is to fix the body and go with a VR6. I'm tired of replacing the distributor.

And, I took it to a European car mechanic and they told me to get it out of the shop.

>That fucking rust.
>>14741724
you know what I'm gonna say right?
diesel = no distributor problems, ever!!
God damn look at all that beautiful rust.
I would love to cut that out, and weld some new shit on there.
But why 1980?

that bastard fusion of manual and electric technology
for example your car might not have power steering or boosted breaks
but god dam the fuel injection is timed by the distributor and metered by vacuum
as for style its like the 70s but with more vertex and grills

Pre-smog Lincoln mark III, the 460 was a torquey motherfucker

fucking sick ride . Would kill for a convertible in the summer .
