Any advice for a manual newfag on hill starts? Tried it in a friend's honda, don't know what model it was. Learned manual in about 3 hours of side road travel, no issues except for starting on an incline. Had to use the e-brake for anything over about 20 degrees, mostly getting stuck halfway up an onramp to get off the highway. No stalls though!
>people behind me are literally 10 inches away
>no room to roll back
>>
>>14724813
Just gotta go faster. That's how I learned it last year. Left on clutch right on brake, then immediate move right to gas and release the clutch to the grab point give it throttle to minimize rolling.

Also if you see anybody coming up behind you while you're stopped on a hill just roll back a bit to give them a hint. Usually works for me.

1999 Honda crv with a 5 speed manual as a daily driver.

How can I spend $2-3k to make it a little more capable on the highway? It quickly runs out of gear above 65 mph and the engine is always gutless. Better damping over bumps would be nice too.

HARDMODE: no outwardly visible mods. No loud performance exhausts or other ricey mods. Must be completely reliable after mods.

Fixed it. Still needs to settle because we took apart the whole thing. The retainer ring that goes around the C clip was put on wrong. It was above the spring seat instead of between the seat and the C clip. The driver side is like that too but I'll mess with that on a clearer day.

Yeah it'll probably be one of the last things I start on. I'm almost to that point though. Wanting to do the AC next then probably a new steering wheel.
>>
>>14725991
No, if yours has the RT4WD it'll hold up fine, if you want you can put a OBX LSD in the rear that's meant normally for a FWD B trans, at least that's what I've heard from Civic Wagon forums, there RT4WD is the same as yours and they have rt4wd wagons with over 300hp that haven't broken the system, remember that it's a viscous diff that send power to the rear, so it'll work on launch and if it senses the front wheels slipping

It's gonna be a weekend car. With my job I;m usually doing 100+ city miles a work day, would rather put those miles on my Hyundai.

Just took sleeping pills because I gotta get an alignment in the morning. Might order pic related before I crash though. Might just use a fuse adapter instead for the camera though. Much cheaper and I don't have to do much wiring. Got a radar detector from a friend too so I gotta make that fit.

Think I'll have to ditch the plug that lights up the pizza sign.

Wink;) mirror pros and cons
+
Increased visibility
Cool points
You can put stickers on the back
-
Visors may need to be removed unless you make a custom adapter or buy the glass mounting adapter
No dim/night mode
Vibrates if you don't put the rubber washers from the visors or not buy them
Some cars require you to drill mounting holes for it (you don't need to remove the visors)
Passengers will hit it not on purpose but they will
Reduces visibility for looking up (red lights maybe harder to see when you come to a complete stop
Adjusting is a little inconvenient compared to a factory mirror (requires two hands)
Still on the fence about putting it on my next car/10

If I could draw a diagram of the incident I could explain it so much more easily, but I'm on mobile so I'm gonna have to ninja wield these meme arrows

>9PM, going home from friend's house
>driving in left lane on interstate
>see a black Chevy sedan (pictured, not sure what model) parked behind red Mazda3
>both are fucking stationary in the middle lane
>all of a sudden a white Nissan Altima (pictured) in the middle lane slams into the from behind Chevy
>Nissan's rear end catches air for a brief moment and almost flips before slamming back down
>chain reaction causes Chevy to hit the Mazda in front of it
>Mazda skids over into the left lane
>I'm not good at estimating distance but the collisions happened about 100 ft ahead me
>ohshit.jpg
>look in front of me
>there's a fucking lady on her hands and knees in my lane
>ohshit.exe
>slam brakes like my life depends on it (hers, in retrospect)
>ABS got me shaking like a god damn earth quake
>...
>fucking run that lady over
>...
>ohshit(1).exe

Not much else to say from there. I got out and checked on her and everyone else involved, called 911, spoke to police/paramedics, all that shit.
The whole time I'm freaking the fuck out and crying like a bitch because I almost killed a person. Thankfully she was moving and talking right after I got out, but god damn, her leg was fucked up, that was honestly some shit I wish I could unsee. she got sent to the hospital, and I haven't gotten an update on her since.

So I went and saw this car today. Guy drove it to the meeting spot, paint was what to expect for 30 so years of Texas heat, interior wasnt too bad, car ran fine, drove it around the parking lot, felt normal expect the brakes. Holy shit the brakes felt weak. One problem is the EK1 has a timing belt and the car has about ~211k miles and the current owner hasn't done the timing belt, so thats something that needs to be done if I buy it. I also forgot to check small things like lights, windshield wipers, undercarriage rust, so I need to look at the car again.

Today I saw a lowered (almost stanced) older miata with a hoonigan sticker along with some others ones on the back, and some distasteful rims. I rolled up next to him at 55mph. He looked like what I think a standard /o/tist would look like, and he had his mom in the car too. I waved at him, downshifted and kinda challenged him, but he didn't really seem like he wanted to race but still slowed down to 40 with me. I was going to start honking but he just took off and I started off a second or 2 after he was going. I started pulling on him and we got up to maybe 55 or and then I was slowly getting ahead of him. We hit some traffic afterwards and he wouldn't look at me, but his mom did and smiled. So, I guess I won? I would think a miata would beat my 95 dx. Maybe he wasn't going full throttle...

It was entertaining none the less.

Hey /hg/, first time poster, long time Honda driver.
My first car was a 95 odyssey I bought from my parents, my second was an 02 accord I bought from the first owner.
I'm looking at a 1st gen 1980 Honda prelude, 123,000 original miles from 1 owner. Pic of the car look great. No obvious damage, looks like it was really well maintained. Pics of the engine look clean as well. He's asking $3,000 for it.

So I have two questions.
1) is this a fair price for a well maintained 1980 prelude with low mileage for its age?
And 2) how much could future maintenance cost? I assume parts aren't cheap because they are no longer made.
Thanks /o/ and /hg/
>>
>>14738527
Window is held on to the regulator with two bolts, but the channels the travel in are dogshit and if anything happens to the door that would cause them to pinch then all kinds of fuckery happens, that or the inserts cause the windows to not go up and you have to use clear silicone spray in them so the glass will slide
>>
>>14738537

RIP to that beautiful car.
A friend of mine back into the hood, fucked up the latch.
A few months later I'm driving home from work and get on the freeway and the latch gives out.
The hood slams back into the windshield. Ruined the hood, breaks the windshield, and nearly collapsed the room
Insurance tells me it won't cover repairs.
Was a terrible weekend, to say the least.
>>
>>14738682

That looks clean. Rack is cool too.
Really you should schedule a look through at an automotive shop. Pay the $40-60 and you can get concrete reasons for lowering the price. Even if you only get $100 off you still will have saved some money.

I slid on black ice going like 30km/h and hit a benz at like 10 kmh, it was the day before I was putting my car in storage but we had a bad storm that night as I was driving home for work. The reinforcement bar punched through bumper, benz had some minor fender and door panel damage. Pretty shit luck around

Before I bought my prelude I was all ready to buy an 89 supra twin turbo. Texted the guy and we agreed I'd drive 300km to him and buy it on Friday. Friday came around and while I was driving to the guy he texted me saying he sold it. fucking assholes, man.

That afternoon in a fit of rage I bought my first honda.

yeah but I've wanted one for a few years now and it was really clean. 10/10 exterior. That said I'm sure I've had more fun with my prelude than I'd have with that old supra.

Very important question for you guys

I'm a car fanatic and my dream is to fill my garage with classic Japanese sports cars.

If I were to travel to japan in like 3 years:
what would I need to rent out sports cars so I can travel comfortably?
I'm 26 and I do already have a drivers licence where I live, so I guess thats already something.

Second, how are export laws in japan?
Has anyone exported a car, to say latin america?

I should also have with me around 20 ~25k USD at hand by that time.

please respont

Got the dash cam and radar detector running. How am I supposed to get the cam running through the fuse box? I cut the 12V plug it came with, grounded the black wire and put the red wire on an add-a-fuse, plugging it into the radio/cig lighter fuse. Didn't get shit. Instead I ended up taking a long USB extension and running it through the passenger A pillar to my phone charger and it works.

Also I need to pick up some real strong glue. Got the security cover in the mail and one of the clips fell off in shipping.

RockAuto is pretty good too at least for basic maintenance parts.

Just did a quick look over my first batch of dash cam footage from work last night. The quality is pretty fucking good. Now if some cunt decides to hit my car I can see the look on their face when I mention I have a dash cam.

>caring about how a car behaves in winter.
Some anon didn't buy a 350z for this very reason, now hes stuck with a shit econobox

Why are americucks afraid of snow?

If you have a garage, like anyone who has a decent house should, and never take the car out in winter you'll be fine.

Plus s2000's are very prone to rusting, so don't take that fucker anywhere near snow.

I GOT IT

Could use a little love, but it's in fantastic shape. Engine is clean as a whistle, interior looks brand new, and miles are low as heck for a 30 year old car. Could maybe use a little paint and has some old annoying stickers and what I think is a Masonic Shriner badge?

But it drives like a dream. Better than my 10 year old VW ever did.

Integra of course, though right now that one appears to have bad leak through the sunroof drains to the rear. Also, probably not a lot works.

Corey, if you buy a fifth gen Prelude, you go back to the corner. Any fifth gen under 3-4k is going to be a pit.

That 2000 Integra in Coral Springs was a shitpan, though most third gen Integras down in Florida are like that because of 2 Fast.
