Dear God.
>ok guys we're going to the mall but we have to park 1 block away because we don't fit in the parking garage

Literally what the fuck is going on at Ford?
This is the most nigged-out car ever made, but I can only respect that.
>stupid idea that won't find its way into production #923846239825
How are designer brain farts even worth a thread?
An older thread died for this.
>>14720463
Nobody is saying that's going to production. Lincoln just wanted to have a little fun to show off the design direction of the next navigator. Chill out.
>>14720491
looks like some spy shit
They should put a sliding door on it so it is more like a minivan.
I always thought minivan doors were practical.
>implying the Navigator will ever be anything more than a carbon copy of the Expedition with a $10,000 upcharge
That's bullshit and to tease us otherwise is just mean.
I... I actually like it. It's over the top and gaudy, but damnit, that's exactly what this kind of car needs to be.
Put it on an Escalade to be safe.

>Nobody is saying that's going to production.
I know, but this is up there with some of the worst concept design in history.
Wish they had kept the old design language with the mustache grill. that actually looked visually pleasing in my opinion.
Can't say i too much like the grills on the new navigator or on the continental.
When caddy started their new design language they pretty much stuck to it even if it raised some eyebrows.
When's the Excursion coming back?
>>14720491
Is this really a thing? This really is the most niggered out concept. I think they consulted Will.i.am.

geez they been around for like 80 years and people still don't get that its half preview of upcoming styling cues and half space for designers to vent
Honestly I'd love a giant American Range Rover.
>>14720514
the old design looked like shit on the cars. it feels like the kind of design that would work better on a more angular car, not one with a rounded front end

Dunno, I kinda liked how the 2015 MKZ looked in person. It had a bit of an art-decoish vibe to it or something and not very in-your-face. Too many luxury sedans these days looks the same, so it was a bit a breath of fresh air.
>>14720469
Looks like the 80s
>>14720628
>car nigging is the future
It's been the thing to do so long that even Mercedes caught on in the Nineties. You can't look at ANY of the luxury makes and not see the attempt to appeal to NBA players and the hip hop crowd.

>>14720725
This. I disliked the MKZ until I saw it up close. I think it was a bit too out there for the mass market at it's release but it's aged well. I think the update with the Continental grill looks good too though.
>>14720507
>minivan
what is this, the 90s?
>>14722153
The updated MKZ looks okay, but now it looks just like very other luxury sedan out there. It lost what tiny bit of unique design that it had left and gave way to a Bentley lookalike.

It's a "luxury full-size crossover."
Basically an upscale Ford Flex (or Explorer). Shares the same platform as the new Explorer and the Taurus.
>>14722188
No. The new Taurus is a different platform.
>>14722356
Sixth gen Taurus is basically the same platform as the Explorer and the Flex. Taurus is the D3 and Explorer and Flex and MKT are D4, which IIRC is the D3 modified to work for crossover SUVs.
>>14722188
What the fuck is this thing? Sexy. That's what.
>>14722377
The Sixth gen Taurus is still on the D3. The D3 had several crossover derivatives in the form of the Flex, Taurus X, Freestyle, MKT and Explorer. Crossovers on this platform were designated as D4/D5
The new Fusion and Taurus are riding on the CD4 platform, which is different from the D3/D4 platform.

It's already out in China. The US version is going to look a bit more aggressive and is supposedly going to be built in Fords plant in Hermosillo. Chinese market and US market variants of American products are starting to become highly differentiated. Asians like bland conservative designs with small engines but profit margins are higher while safety standards are lower and they're the largest auto market right now so typically they get initial vehicle launches then the US get's more aggressively styled, higher output, more rigid variant about a year later with R&D costs funded on the windfalls of the Asian variant.

Ford: this is just a concept, essentially showing design ideas and styling cues that we would like to include in future vehicles, much like runway fashion. Its just a concept, however.

Please explain why we continue to build giant SUVs we don't need when the Japs have had extraordinary interior space and luxury in vans for the past forever?
I really don't understand why we need spruced up F350s when nobody is going to tow anything or go offroad.

As a concept vehicle, I kind of like it and get what they're aiming for with the "land yacht" concept. Let's face it, a Navigator should be exactly that.
From the get-go those doors were there to show off the interior and no one in their right mind would think that's going into production.
This thread is just as bad as that hipster fag from Jalopnik that interviewed the design chief. The only difference is that this is 4chan and he is supposedly an "industry professional" and getting paid to be a snarky millenial Brooklynite asshole.
>>14722153
