I'm gonna go look at this guy's prelude tomorrow. 219k, no rust, and supposedly no issues (it's the owner's daily). He wants $1600 but I think I can talk him down a bit.

Is there anything I should be scrutinizing very carefully when I check it out tomorrow?

Anything made of rubber, belts, listen for valve noise, jack up the car and check for play in the steering and bushings if he will let you, check the oil level, when you test drive it make sure there is little to no play in the steering, verify for yourself that there is no rust, look for 'marbles' which are little balls of rubber that indicate intense driving in the wheel wells
>>
the low beltline of these never ceases to amaze me.

such a same this will never ever return

219k miles?

Dear god thats alot of km (350k+?) if so

Stay away
>>
>>14719937

The mileage is pretty high but I figure that's what I should expect from a lowball price they're offering. I've been told they last into the 300+ if it's been taken decently care of.
>>
>>14719937
This.
But then I don't understand the appeal of preludes when much better cars exist in the same price range or less.
>>
>>14719927

Thank you!
>>
>>14719950

They look nice and they're a comfy, "sporty" daily at a fairly reasonable price. They are not fast by any measure (inb4 "muh slalom") but they are fun. If your choice is between a boring sedan and this, and you don't need the extra space, and you don't want RWD for whatever reason such as climate, it's not a bad car.
>>
Ask if the timing belt has been changed, and if he has proof (receipts).
>>
>>14719966

Yeah. It's either this or corollas and saturns in my town around this price range.

This
Much better. Lighter, easier to work on, touch more power, better aftermarket, still came with pop-ups.
It's an all around better car
>>
>>14719992

That Corolla is superior because you can GZE swap it, but it's actually inferior because they all died of rust 10 years ago in the continental US

The other Corollas are all shit, including the weeb meme car

I see ae92s all the time.
Also sedan is kick ass too.
>>
>>14720017

Is there snow where you live?

Every time I see an AE92 for sale, it's $400 and consists of 50% rust/50% faded paint. It sucks because I'd like to buy one.

You can gze swap any pre 1998 corolla
>>
>>14720025
Yeah it snows. But no salt. Never see rusted cars here
>>
>>14720028

Yeah but they don't look cool and didn't come like that from the factory in JDM tyte land. No pop ups, no care

Bolt on the pop-ups then... Jesus ass lazy fucks with no imagination.
>>
>>14720047

That doesn't look very good compared to the coupe. It might work better with a sedan. But the body lines don't match up nearly as well.

The sedan and wagon would probably look better with the s/c Levin front imo
