Maybe overall the M3 offers a better overall package to customers? You get fantastic performance, luxury and comfort plus the badge.

Personally I believe that all the M3 competitors are mistaken about what makes the M3 so good. It's not just performance. It's the fact that besides the performance you get a perfectly dd-able sedan with all the features of the "normal" one. And you get a car that is made to cope with all aspects of driving including shitty roads, traffic jams, speed limits, not wanting to go fast but relax instead etc.

It's the same deal with the Bugatti. Sure you can reduce it to its power and speed and make a glorified Lotus that has even more power and more speed. But if you only focus on that aspect you end up with a completely stripped out high speed machine that is unusable anywhere but on a straight piece of track and terribly uncomfortable etc.

Also please stop with this "car enthusiasts are only allowed to care about speed and performance and handling" nonsense. That is just childish.

Like it or not, it's been a precedent with recent fast Alfas. Last mass market performance car they made that received proper, unequivocal praise rather than "we really want to like it, buuut...." would be, what the GTV, I guess?

Everything more recent than that has either been gorgeous but flawed in some fundamental way (4C, Brera, 147 and 156 GTA) or just not up to the standards of the competition (MiTO and Giulietta QV). Which is a shame because I really want to see Alfa do well and stick it to the German but, dammit, there have just been too many disappointments for me to have confidence n them.
