Wew lad 16.3k miles a year seems like a lot. I guess if a trusted mechanic okays it then sure why not though. $4k seems like a steal. I'm a big fan of Mazda 3 hatch.

Mine has 155k miles on the 2.3L
Running smooth as ever.
Only issue I had was an alternator at about 130k.
Suspension was worn so I replaced it too.

OP check it for rust, EVERYWHERE.

I had a 2006 GT and he was a rusty little nigger to me.

4 grand is a fair price if the vehicle is in good condition. What's the interior like? Exterior? Been in any collisions, or clean carfax/carproof?

Mileage is OK if services have been done on time. See if you can find dealer records or maintenance records from the owner.

That's 26,000km a year. Anyone who commutes 30-40 minutes to work would have no trouble putting that on in a year. I go to college and I put about 30,000km on my vehicle every year between driving to school, driving to work, and just using it for everything else.

Totally clean carproof from VIN thread, got same report from dealer himself.

No rust on the car. Specifically checked wheel wells because I know it's an issue, but considering there is none hopefully that implies good maintenance.

There is a small (1 inch) ding in hood so I want to negotiate down for that. Also have a friend who works in an autobody shop that can fix it for $400 and told me regular fix for it would be near $1000.

Taking it to a mechanic tomorrow morning to check things over.

Personally I've landed on this Mazda 3 after shopping around and tracking prices for a few months. Can't seem to find another around the same price point.

Safety cert and emissions testing is also included in the price.

Sounds like it's pretty good then m8, expect to replace little things here and there as the vehicle ages though. It should really be just that though, small stuff, like a rear engine mount or a battery.

Is it an automatic or memeshift? Mine was a 5 speed manual and felt like a tank with every shift, I couldn't break it.

If your mechanic says it's good to go, I'd move on it. If you're buying it privately, see if the seller will write you a receipt for a bit less than you actually pay him/her. That way, when you go to register the vehicle they won't ding you sales tax on the $4000, but maybe $3700. Can't be too low, though, or they'll assume you're shitting them and just use the BlueBook value to calculate tax.

Auto, don't know how to drive stick. But I like the triptronic feature for that reason, also it probably won't teach me anything.
