what's the dumbest sleeper idea you've had? right now i'm considering buy a zx3 focus and using the fswerks turbo kit to give enough horsepower to destroy the local ricers around here. the focus is pretty lightweight as it is and i could reduce the weight even further without much effort after installing the turbo.

OP, buy an SVT and badge it as a base model.

Mine is less grounded in reality, and by less I mean almost not at all.

A van. Like an Express. Crank 800+ horses and like 850+ lb-ft and completely overhaul the suspension for street performance.

The only problem is that these have very high-profile tires because van, so the moment you bring down the size of the tire and up the size of the rim, it's gonna be noticeable.

Easy. Buy one of those mid engine tall kei vans, and swap in a turbo flat 4 out of an sti. Crank the boost to like 20 psi, and put in the widest tyres I can in the back, maybe cut into the fenders from the inside to fit fatter tyres without making it too obvious. Boom, 600 hp+ drag queen. Just don't look at any turns

OP, I've just bought a 2001 zx3 actually. Had a non-working fuel pump so I got it for $1000. I just replaced the fuel pump, cost $200 for the part, and then I replaced the windshield because a rock cracked it. Ton of fun to drive. It came with an aftermarket exhaust so it sounds beefier too. I think it's a good looking car, especially if yours has the roof spoiler. I've also got some nice 5-spoke wheels, and two 10" subs in the back. I drive this car more than my daily driver.

The 3800's are FF, m8.

Also, small tip, you can source a supercharged series 2 from select 8th gen Impala SS's and Monte Carlo SS's as well. The Montes say Supercharged if it has a supercharged 3800 in them, not sure about the Impalas.

If you're going to take the transmission with them as well, I'd look up the ratios. The GTP, Impala, and Monte Carlo had different gearing ratios in their respective transmissions, despite them all being 4T65E-HD. If not, well, the engines are all identical.

SO OP.

SINCE YOU POSTED A PIC OF A ZX3, I'VE GOT A SUGGESTION.

If you want to be a badass after pulling your hair out for a year, buy a 1999 manufacture date duratec 2.5 svt and put it in the zx3.

200hp, plenty of torque. If you make some modifications, you could even put a supercharger on it and have a fun time trying to keep your wheels on the ground.

Enjoy your torque steer, have fun, be safe.

Alfa 145 with a Busso V6. If it fits in a 147, it'll fit in a 145.

Alternatively, a 2.0 TS with a turbo will do.

this and a midmounted Olds 455. Just put a rac over the bed to cover it.

Audi A2 is on the same platform as the Polo/Ibiza iirc, which would mean it can take a 1.8 20v turbo. those things can rip with a good amount of boost.

shape the rack to look like a fridge or concrete mixer perhaps even a pile of wood
then cover it with a tarpaulin this gives apparent reason for the rear to be so weighted

I think the hardest part with sleepers is hiding the wheels and exhaust note

for the wheels you could use widened steely (or double up the rear tires - some kei trucks do have this but it's rare)
hoosier makes some tires for formula ford that will fit on the stock with and diameter but that would cost allot
to muffle the sound you could turbo the engine then add oversized mufflers

biggest issue is once its raped a few people there will be rumours of some kind of devil kei truck so some people will know
best to start with a car that is both common and famously slow

Amazingly convincing reasons there. I bow down to your intellectual superiority.

Eagle Summit with all the AWD/Tarbo bits swapped in.
Chrysler K Aeries/Reliant sedan with a Turbo IV motor innit.
Ford Farimont with anything good from the Fox platform. I dunno, YOU think of something!
A Geo Metro with a supercharger on. Look it up, at least one person was crazy enough to try it.
Late-90's beige Buick Century with the supercharged 3800 swapped in.

My buddy and I love sleepers. One of our ideas was a 73 Cadillac Coupe De'Ville with a 500. Open up the engine a bit, or swap in a 502 Chevy. Make custom badges, call it Coupe De'GrĂ¢ce.

Other ideas have included a Buick Roadmaster Wagon, a 1983 Mercury Grand Marquis Coupe with a 351W, a PT Cruiser with a Rear mounted Northstar V8, a XJ Cherokee with a 2JZ, and an AMC Eagle with a fuckton of boost.

I'm planning on buying a 2004 BMW E61 535 diesel touring, debadging and remapping it to about 300hp. It will look and sound like the average 530 or 525 diesel except powah
