The 340i actually weights 1 (one) pound MORE than the Camaro SS. The Camaro has 455hp compared to the BMW 320hp.
So the Camaro actually has a much better power to weight ratio, and costs $10k less, and will be cheaper to maintain and doesn't have the shit steering feel of the new electric steering in the 3-series.

By the sound of any review, the BMW is muted but good and the Camaro is considered responsive, and even handles well enough to shame some sports cars.
Aside from reviews, in my personal experience with the latest 3-series is they roll a lot more through turns than BMW shills will admit. They don't turn that well, and the current generation does not carry the wait. And don't get me started on the cheap interiors they come with, unless you drop an extra $10k in options.
Admittedly, I am only going on reviews for the Camaro.
