Make everything in the car manual, make it as mechanically simple as possible while keeping the car road legal, do things like remove the rear seats, replace the trunk and hood with carbon fiber. 6.2 isn't heavier than the LS7. Besides, LS7's aren't DI like all current GM V8's are trying to be, and that thing really went over the bore limit of the factory LS blocks.
7 speed manual only offer gas mileage. 6 speed is actually better for track use due to less rotating mass. Auto is indeed pointless, but competetive and required for the market segment.
Magnetic ride is actually one of the best things to have in a performance car, unless you've got 10 grand worth of coilovers and enjoy lying under your car to do suspension settings.

I thought the ZR1 was just meant to be a higher trim level than the Z06 for that generation.

if they can squeeze more performance out of the C7 than they will make a ZR1 trim otherwise it may be just like the C5 which was another corvette Gen that was Z06-only.

They might have to make a whole new corvette platform before they make a ZR1 because i don't think they can make more performance than this besides minor tweaks unless they make a mid-engine vette (for fuck sake why haven't they done this) at least see how the market responds.

I don't buy that they need to go to a mid engined platform because the FMR layout is tapped out. For one thing, there isn't a C7 that is a legitimate hardtop car. They all have the targa top option or can be had as a convertible. Maybe the ZR1 will be a true hard top? Who knows, but there is still some performance left in the current Corvette chassis.
