Hello /o/. This marks my first venture into your board. I probably don't deserve anyone's time because I've been an absolute idiot in taking my car. I'm a poorfag, granted, but I've definitely been taking shit care of my fucking car.

I have very little knowledge regarding vehicles. I've been learning more in recent years, but that doesn't change the fact that younger me took shit care of my car.

As the subject says, I have an '04 Sentra. I'm wondering what the best course of action would be to fix it and what it would likely cost. I'm also wondering where to go or if I should do things myself(in which case what I'd need and how I'd do it).

I believe I need a new serpentine belt, as my car often screeches on startup. It's been this way for a couple of years.

I probably also need to change the transmission fluid, because it does have a little fight when shifting gears.

The one that feels the worst is the power steering. I was noticeably low on power steering fluid when driving. I had some added and it felt better for a few months but now has gotten worse. Nothing seems to be leaking under my vehicle, so would it be the pump? There's decent resistance on startup and at low speeds, with still some resistance once it gets going. I haven't been driving because of this.

Any advice, info, etc. is greatly appreciated.

How many miles?

130,000

I'd change all the fluids. Coolant, oil, brake fluid, trans fluid, and power steering fluid.

Get under it and look at the lines coming off the rack. My civic had a slow leak there. $630, so your's would probably be similar. Or it could be as simple as a line.

I'd replace the spark plugs and coils. Oem parts are best. Check suspension components. Bushings, sway bar links, ball joints, etc...

If I take it easy while I drive, what're the odds it would last a couple months in this condition?

I need a new job right now and have to save up a little before I can tend to everything my car needs. If I could do one thing either on my own or at a shop, what would be the priority right now?

If I haven't given you guys enough information, how could I cheaply determine the state of my vehicle?

>lookit the lines coming off the rack

Guarantee you OP has no idea where the "rack" is or how to locate it
>>
>>14652333
You'd be right. I believe he means steering rack. I still don't have good eyes for looking at and detecting problems, but hey, I'll use this info however I can.
>>
>>14652306
It's about $50 in parts, or $800 at a shop.
>>
>>14652306
As many fluids as you can afford to change. Definitely trans and coolant. Oil is a given and costs almost nothing.
>>
>>14652367
Where would you go for parts in this case? Online(if so, where), junk yark, retail?
>>
>>14652426
My favorite is Rockauto.com but some retards like Amazon.
>>
>>14652426
Not him but it depends on what you need. Sometimes oem parts are only slightly more expensive than aftermarket. And sometimes aftermarket parts causes problems like distributors and non-ngk or denso spark plugs on Hondas.

Post pics of your engine bay or underneath it and we might could pick out problems.

I've been burned by rockauto with a faulty fuel pump. Luckily I have a corolla now, so Amazon is competitively priced.

Did you even bother checking the tire pressure? 30 psi vs 42psi makes a huge difference
>>
>>14652445
>>14652471
I'll check both. I'd rather spend a little more on oem.

>>14652468
I'll post some tomorrow if this thread is still alive, or will create a new thread if it seems appropriate.

>>14652482
My front tires are definitely a little low. I need to check them and get that handled, too.
>>
>>14652528
Don't listen to him. Your tires need 35 psi tops.
>>
>>14652541
Thanks. I figured they'd be somewhere in the 32-35psi range. I plan on finding out for sure.
