>Toyota Stays on Track to Report 3 Trillion Yen in Annual Profit
And they contribute nothing to the industry. Their cars are the cheapest cost to build and yield the biggest profit margin AND THEY CANT EVEN MAINTAIN THEIR QUALITY! LOL Forget bringing new, practical technology to the market.. they can't even get a valve spring right FFS!
>They're still using 1980s engines with 4 speed autos.
>Their cars are about the ugliest you can buy.
>They still use decades old platforms- shitty platforms like the M-something platform... the one used in corolas.
>Still using decades old engines with PFI
>They can't even beat Honda and Mazda for fuel economy with their shitty old-school engines that burn more oil than gas.
>They can't even make a modern V6 without defective valve springs.
>They can't even make a head gasket that doesn't eat itself or head that doesnt warp or manage coolant flow, despite their engines being some of the oldest designs
>They can't stop the oil burning.
>They can't stop their run-away death traps
>They get sludge in the engine even with the lowest outputs.
>They can't even install piston rings the right way up.
>They have way more silent recalls than Ford.
>They pay BILLIONS each year to buy customers off and shut people up in court.
>They lie harder when they get caught lying-- or Toyotas are the only car to use floor mats and accelerator pedals.... LOL FUCK OFF GUYS
HONEST QUESTION HERE GUYS: Is there anything useful Toyota can do with their billions of dollars of profits by selling such a cheap to manufacture product at high prices?
>>14651287
They are reliable so that's all that matters.
>Is there anything useful Toyota can do with their billions of dollars of profits
I guess they could pay some Italian or British body designer like Lotus or something to design them a Super/Hyper-car (like the Nissan R390)and just show off what their engineers can do.

Trolololololololo

Keep it simple, stupid.
Sure, you can make cars perform better, but it's more expensive, and less reliable (especially long-term).
Toyota sells affordable, reliable and well-built cars. They are quite literally the poster child of lean manufacturing and quality control (see nummies factory).
If you want something faster, get it. Better mpg? Get it. Better handling? Go ahead.
Want a jack of all trades, that's exceptional at nothing, other than in value? Get a Toyota. Turns out, that's what 90% of drivers are looking for, something simple, cheap and reliable.
Toyota has, and will continue, to cater to that audience. And its hard to argue that the Prius was unsuccessful.
Owned a 1996 Celica for years as my first ride. Car has survived so much and continues to handle the beatings.
Toyota has always just been more consistent on quality when compared to the others. Everyone fucks up, bit Toyota does it less.
Stop being so mad and go back to working on your resto-mod mustang.

1VD-FTV. Built like a tank.
Nissan diesel is hurting. Come one, the ZD30 and YD25? And the RD28T before them.... The ZD30 in the Patrol holed the number 3 and 4 piston, cracked between exhaust valves and hits limp home mode more often than overdrive. Using the ZD30 for 5 tonne trucks in UD? Timing chains flying off the YD25 because of soft plastic tensioners? They have a good engine with Cummins coming, but their diesel offerings have been very poor for almost a decade.
1VD-FTV. Uses oil if the scavenge pump gasket is bad and the alternator is low slung and can get caked mud in there if lazy miners and tradies don't clean their Cruiser.
Otherwise, breddy gud Dagumi. I'll probably never buy a Nissan again, which is a shame as I've owned three of them.
>>14651287
Wtf I hate Toyota now. I'm going to buy a Honda instead
>>14652265
Masterful b8
what pisses me off is their allergy to sports cars. As if a Supra, GT-4 Celica or MR2 revival wouldn't be profitable. Sure, you make more money selling tacomas and corollas but fuck, their legion of bean counters can't let us have a little bit of fun in this world, with the billions in cash and bonds they have lying around? Does "halo car" not mean anything?

>FRS doesn't exist
>>14652297
K
>>14652302
The FR-S is a the successor to the AE86, a sporty corolla. The bare minimum of the definition of sports car.
>>14652313
Ooff, that's even worse.
But they make one of the best diesel cars and trucks in the market? Not only that but V6 engines are very American.
>oil burning
It has nothing to do with the piston rings but poor close gearing choices. These poor engines are asked to spin at high rpm with lots of parasitic losses
>>14652314
Yet no one complains about miatas....
>>14652293
>Supra, GT-4 Celica
But these are GT's and Toyota has never been known for making these sort of cars. Then again again for the American market something weight less than 2,800lbs with a 5 speed manual is a miracle
>>14652326
I'm not complaining about the miata, but yes, it is also lacklustre as a brand's only sports car. The lack of a current rx has me just as jim rustled as lack of Toyota sports cars.
>>14652336
I can enjoy driving a miata. I can enjoy driving an FRS. I have done both.
I love and have owned many rotary vehicles.
But in all honesty id rather see a turbo I4 sports car from Mazda.
~300hp, 2800lbs, rwd. Please....
>>They're still using 1980s engines with 4 speed autos.
wrong
auto tech student here, currently disassembling an A540E, one of my classmates has a transmission out of a '15 Avalon.
Toyota managed to cram 6 gears in a casing smaller than their old 4-speed auto.
also the a540e is a piece of shit
>>14651287
>contribute nothing
>Lexus is doing the best it's ever been and is beating many of its competitors in fun, reliable cars
Sounds like you're just poor Anon. Stick with your Focuses and Civics.
