How did this happen? What scenario could recreate it?
>>
sever neglect and general disregard for the condition of your tires.

next time you're in a parking lot go look at peoples tires. at least 10% will have visible dry cracking.
>>
>>14639765
>next time you're in a parking lot go look at peoples tires. at least 10% will have visible dry cracking.

Nothing wrong with that.
>>
>>14639792
>visible dry cracking
Isn't that normal and pretty hard to prevent? I mean as long as the tires aren't fucking old?
>>
>>14639792
so dry cracking leads to tire hemorrhoids?
>>
It's called dry rot you dumbfucks.
>>
>>14639765
It's from being driven on while being flat.
>>
>>14639765
You can replicate it by hitting the sidewall of your tire with a hammer hard enough.
>>
Spider laid eggs in it.
>>
>>14639765
That's tire AIDS
>>
Tire needs more fiber, exercise and water senpai
>>
>>14639765
Driven when flat.
Rim grinds on the sidewall, sidewall damages, sidewall makes lots of bubbles when tire is inflated again
>>
>>14639765
Rubbing up against a dirty little hatchback with warts.
>>
Had that happen to a new tire I got.
Think sometimes you just get unlucky
>>
>>14639765
>What scenario could recreate it?

Offshore your tire factory in China
>>
>American tyres
>>
>>14642114
Winrar. More specifically, the sort of poor quality control you only get in countries that value low price over all, even serviceability.

>Be me
>Be sourcing components for small run (10k units)
>Be talking to Chinese salesguy:
>"It's cheap!"
>(me:) "But it doesn't work..."
>"But price is good!"
>"I can't use it if it doesn't work"
>"But price is good!"
>"I will pay you 30% more for components that work!"
>(long pause) "But price is good! But, if we make it work, cannot give such good price."

I've had this convo several times... In the race for the bottom, the idea that stuff has to actually work doesn't even enter. Or perhaps, "working" is redefined to "works well enough to sucker the end user into paying."

This.

Consult with /biz/ if you need help.
>>
>>14639792
>at least 10% will have visible dry cracking.

Some dry rot is okay and nothing to worry about.
>>
Majority of the times this is caused by severe under inflation causing sidewall sagging

>hot day
>small rock hits sidewall
>>
>>14639792
hahaha no. not at all.

this is from damage. contact with a curb is most likely. they hit a curb and drove against it. slight cracking is not a problem. major cracking is, neither will cause bubbling of the sidewall

Nothing wrong with slight cracking, delamination is what you need to worry about.

Also, what are the possible repercussions of the wrong size tyres on a wheel? I recently bought a new car and it has 225/45/R17 where it should have 205/45/R17. There's loads of tread on them so I don't want to replace them unless it's dangerous or something.

I'm not sure about US and other 3rd world but in Europe it's actually illegal if your tires don't match up with those that are prescribed in the papers. Cops don't really give a fuck unless it's some nigger wheels but in case of an accident, tires are the first thing that insurance agents check.
