It offroads well generally speaking. The small footprint has advantages and disadvantages. The powertrain isn't a noteworthy issue unless you fit gigantic tires. And even then the 100 hp 1.6L from the first gen Geo Tracker / Suzuki Vitara will bolt right in as far as I know.

Here's some pretty pictures with my friends' trucks.

High ground clearance, small overhangs for approach, departure, and breakover angles.

Plus it's light as fuck while being small, most modern Jeeps are too large and phat. In islands with shitloads of elevation changes, mud and crap most people prefer a Samurai or an older Jeep.
