So currently I'm set to win a 2006 Toyota 4runner on ebay for $10.5k. I just got a job offer in a major city and now I'm starting to think I should back out of the bid and find something smaller.
The reason I wanted a 4runner was because I wanted to get into overlanding. With my new job I realize I won't really have enough time to do that most likely and I can always buy a 4runner in a year or so.
What do? And what car would I get instead?

Chevy volt. Used for less than 20k

Get a beat to fuck Geo Metro. When you leave you can sell it for more than you bought it for.
>>14607135
Got a garage spot at home and work, or off street parking?
Of not, get something you don't mind seeing slowly and mostly anonymously beat to shit by everyone around you.

No garage or off street parking. My parents are about 45min away with a house and a garage if I needed to work on it.
How about a Mercedes 300D?

It has 142k on the odo. An excellent kbb rating puts this at $10.2k

Please deliver.

I mean I will but I need the approval from the rest of the br/o/thers that this is a bad financial decision.
>I still want a 4runner
Weird, we've had a lot of 4Runner related threads on /o/ recently.
I had an 07 4Runner Limited with the 4.7, traded it for an E90 335. The 3 is an absolute hoot to drive, but a day doesn't go buy where I don't miss my 4. Great car, OP, it'll never let you down as a DD. You shouldn't have remorse. Save some cash over the next few years and buy a project/weekend car...use the 4 as a DD.

I will say, that is an awful lot of money for a 4Runner with that kind of mileage, even if it's in flawless condition (which it's probably not).
You overpaid, but don't feel too bad...it's a 4Runner. You can drive it for another 140k miles with no problems. It's a fun car and it's probably one of the most reliable vehicles ever made.

this is the true option
op do this

>use the 4 as a DD
But at 14 mpg the fuel bills will eat him alive.
>>14607693
Is he towing a house on a regular basis? I got 16.5 combined and I had the V8.
>>14607310
In that case, I'd get anything with steel bumpers so that everyone that bumps your vehicle just fucks their own shit up.
I'm nice like that.

The ebay listing I won was a v6

Why would you get a 4-Runner? Has a terrible turning radius.
